@erik -- what do you usually dislike about RPGs? The long complicated quests? lots of boring reading? or what?
no it's not that i don't like rpg's it's that i dont generally like pc rpgs (as opposed to console style rpgs)

because they're usually very different in style

for one, i would most of the time prefer a really good linear storyline to extreme openendedness (and fallout, my fav pc rpg, had a good story while being fairly openended too) but yeah oblivion still seems cool

there is a good story. and most of the open ended stuff has stories too. The main quest is pretty nifty. Though i haven't worked on it much. But yeah, fallout is a masterpeice :)

Speaking about Morrowind:

1. the fact that every goddamn NPC in a town will tell you basically the same thing save for once in a while "the" useful piece of information, so the endless dialogue menus drive me nuts after five seconds
2. everyone is basically standing around, no matter which time of the day or night. Lack of something like a "real" world animation
3. the side-quests/Guild system which are merely a make-up for some boring repetitive gameplay (enlist for someone - loot - kill - enlist for someone else - loot - kill etc. etc. etc.)
4. simply too many items and shit to cope with
5. I could go on forever about other tidbits I found more or less annoying but I'll leave it at that. PC RPGs are not my case.

[EDIT] like I said in a previous thread, if I want to wander aroud aimlessly and get crazy dealing with stubborn characters and over-complicated menus, real life is all I need!

that's the thing elestin... in Oblivion, people now have a life, they go to work, get back to their house, sleep, etc. And now, all the dialogs have been recorded, so even if it's the same blabber every time, at least you'll be able to hear it instead of reading it.

Well the first one on XBOX I spent months playing and am currently on day 870 something. I played the hell outta of it and have almost completed the whole damn thing. My xbox is almost dead now and barely plays anything and as much as I would hate to start over for Oblivion I might.

These are the exact factors that make it a "single player MMORPG".

Massively Multiplayer Online _____ (fill in the blank, usually with RPG)

I had to poison a guy with an apple, but in order to get him to eat it, I had to steal all the food in his house and leave the apple on the table. he ate it and died a painful death. I love being an assasin

this game has got to rule.

yeah. and I haven't done anything toward the main quest yet. I also broke into a countesses castle to steal a wring for somebody, and the easiest way into her private chambers was through the secret doorway to her private torture chamber because she's a racist and tortures this lizard dudes to death. I also found some cool weapons down there. And on the torture table... a knife and fork...

If I noticed that all my food was stolen I would eat an apple I found on the table. Because there would be no other food and going shopping is much too hard work.

Andrew, I have a Geforce 6200, and it runs the game pretty decently, i'd just like to be able to max out every single video setting because i never got to play morrowind at good framerates when it came out and i'm extremely bitter over it :loco:
