Election 2010

Bob Katter is our office hero at the moment.

I work for a media organisation and we have various TVs on throughout the office showing various news channels depending on what's happening. Every time Katter is on the screen everyone stops to listen because we know it's going to be absolute comedy gold. I've even taken in my Akubra and put it on whenever he's on screen. Keeps the days kicking along usually.

A prediction from our office the other day was Windsor and Oakeshot going with ALP and Katter siding with the Coalition...ALP forming minority Govt and Katter just losing his shit on TV over missing out haha.

Katter's surely lucky to be living in Australia, and notin one of those countries where squirrels are rampant...he'd have his head chewed off in seconds.

Looking at his 20 point list, I'd agree with at least half of it (prolly 2/3 of it)

Fuck. :Smug:

I just hope that any 'conscience votes' on bullshit Greens bills will at least be conducted by way of anonymous ballot. Otherwise this country is going to be fucked beyond repair by the next election.

Every single vote ever made in parliament should be a conscience vote, rather than some party line bullshit.

Be interesting to see how the next election plays out.... Abbott's come out and flatly admitted they're going to oppose EVERYTHING Labour puts forward. They'll push the angle that Labour is "ineffective"

All I could think while watching the announcement was "fuck... this guy really likes to hear himself talk". I got the feeling Katter and Windsor wanted to "get the job done" but Oak was loving being the "Kingmaker". He even said a couple of times during his speech that "my decision will shape the nation"

If he becomes a one track, robotic opposition to everything, then he'll prove himself as only wanting to rule, not make the place better...and demonstrate his vindictiveness.

(same would apply the other way too).

Abbott will be gone well before the next election
most likely 6 months to a year either Julie Bishop or Hockey will challenge and Abbott will skulk off like the weasel that he is

Oak will pretty much became part of the Labour party but be giving the ability to vote the way he wants on some issues

at least the Greens will get some debate going and get some issues knocked about until they come close to working

but am guessing that it will all fall apart in less than a year due to the Egos on people like Katter and Oak

rumour is still swelling that the Nats will split from Libs and challenge the Greens on policy rather than towing the conservative City line that the Libs pretty much forced in them in the Coalition

going to be an interesting time coming :guh:

I can't really see anyone challenging Abbott, but you never know. Bishop as leader would be hilarious in her incompetence.

What odds are you offering :)

If any good comes of all this it will hopefully be people seeing just how dangerous the Greens are instead of viewing them as loud-mouthed but ultimately harmless hippies.

Abbot for PM in 2013 :kickass:
