... But what I reall like is buying cds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it! I went about $200 overbudget last september!

And I'd do it again if necessary!!!!! CDs are so expensive where I live that basically that's my music shopping for the year. Can't beat inexpensive CDs and ProgPower.

I thinsksome of the opening bands pay all the costs to play. It doesn't make any sense to have international openers that won't sell that many tickets... The cost is just absurd... I might be wrong, and I have no way of proving it, but that's what I meant by it...

Although I know it's a trend within some festivals...I highly doubt that's the case for PPUSA...

But...what the hell do I know?

I personally don't have a beef with the ticket prices. I'm never 100% happy with the lineup each year, but who can really say that they are? I've always been happy with at least 70% of the lineup, which is more than I can say about other metal fests (which is why I don't attend most of them). Besides, you can't beat a venue like Earthlink for sound and intimacy. That reminds me, perhaps the word that everyone is looking for when they say "atmosphere" is intimacy. Some bands may sound better than others at the show, but I think the only band that truly had "terrible sound" was Spiral Architect, and I doubt that it was the venue' s fault as opposed to that of whoever was hired by Spiral Architect to handle their sound. I don't think there's a lack of good vendors at the show, and I think their prices are fair (with few exceptions from each vendor). In addition, the number of returning bands for the fest is rather low when compared to that of other festivals. I think anybody who has seen the Classic Metal Festival at least twice can attest to that (Iron Cross, anyone?). I do agree that about the Midtown area shutting down too early, but Glenn can't change that. Besides, if you look hard enough, you can find some places open after the show's over. If I have a beef with anything, it's the increase in hotel rates (another thing that's out of Glenn's hands). I know that there was an increase for all of the hotels in Atlanta this year, but there's more to it than that. After the third festival, the hotels in the Midtown area wisened up and decided to jack up their rates, knowing that we have no choice but to pay up if we want to stay close to the venue. Call me crazy, but no Best Western is worth $180 a night. Whatever your gripes, it's a matter of where you draw the line. I'm always willing to support this show as long as the overall quality of the show remains constant (which it has).

Stay metal. Never rust.

 Let me cLarify I did mean holds, and didn't mean to frighten anyone with the remark, it was a huge typo and just a way of saying we will party hardy, and have a great time, we will just take the few days we have and have a great time, meet new people and just plain have an awesome time. I am so looking forward to this year, so people please bear with me, as it is my first, and i don't want to look stupid(as I did by that remark) :hotjump:
Dude don't worry. We all knew what you meant. We just had to bust your chops a little bit in good fun. Believe me, we've all made typos and said some unintentionally funny statements. And on top of that, plenty of us say stuff that bad and worse on purpose! :loco:

You can also break it down this way:

Going to see a major label band for ONE night is at LEAST $30, If there is two bands on the bill, you're paying about $15 to see one band. At PP, It's about $100 a ticket, you're only paying $10 to see a band. I don't know about the rest of the country, but that's a damn good deal.

That's my logic too.

If Glenn has some bands I don't particularly approve of, Shane most likely will. Either way, nobody says the audience member HAS to be in the auditorium at all times.

My only complaint for the past 2 fests has been with Gaia, not Glenn for those hurricanes

Oh I know what the FCC is, I wanted to know its relevance in this discussion.

I guess the only thing that I can come up with, as far as relevance to this thread, is that Clear Channel was brought up. The FCC allows Clear Channel to be a monopoly, by granting them licences for all of their stations. Other than that, I don't see how it could be relevant. Perhaps she should explain.
