To be honest this will be my first PP i missed all the other due to traveling outside the USA with my company and i missed last year's due to a promotion, but i have meet so many awesome people on here, and i can't wait to met them in person(Sh0kr0k, Unca Kev, pollution, 13shadesof gray, General ZOD, Yardley Bates, Fates Fan Cruifin and any other i have forgotton) we will party hardy this year, no holes barred
We're glad to have ya make this year, but I think that ya may have frightened some of us with that "no holes barred" faux paux there! But seriously, my only regret about this festival is that I didn't know about it earlier! I've only been to PP's IV-VI! But I plan to keep going every year...well until Clear Channel buys it out and they have Avril Lavigne headlining!

Not every person in the country can afford to travel to this show.

It says a lot about the quality of Progpower that many of us who can't afford to do it figure out a way to do it anyway.

i would have paid the full price last year for orphaned land alone...not to mention all the other bands too. fantastic value.

besides i just paid roughly 50 bucks for the first Finntroll show in the states, i went for them only so seeing 8 bands of ppusa caliber is a bargain.

I spent 140 bucks during progpower 2! Tickets, hotel, transportation and even bought a few CDs. Yeah, I didn't eat much that weekend

Perhaps not everyone is looking to perpetuate "hate-mail". You seem to be of that nature considering you twisted my words.

Wasn't too hard...the meaning was there...I just cut through the gobs of BS to help summarize for the others.

 Let me cLarify I did mean holds, and didn't mean to frighten anyone with the remark, it was a huge typo and just a way of saying we will party hardy, and have a great time, we will just take the few days we have and have a great time, meet new people and just plain have an awesome time. I am so looking forward to this year, so people please bear with me, as it is my first, and i don't want to look stupid(as I did by that remark) :hotjump:

Don't worry about others. Just worry about your own misinterpretations.

:Shedevil:

Okay seriously... My two cents doesn't mean much since I don't care how much it costs or what bands play. I'll continue to go as long as Glenn continues to host it.

thanks Shagrath. :)

That was an awsome way of explaining it Glenn. I love Progpower being at Earthlink, Nothing else in Atlanta compares to it. I still think 104 bucks is a good value for 10 bands and the awesome atmosphere and the band members you can meet and other people just hanging out and having fun. In terms of beer prices I went to BBKings in NYC for Kamelot and it was 7 dollars for Bud Light on Tap. Now that is a ripoff. 4 dollars for a can of beer isnt bad, thats really for the most part normal midtown atlanta bar prices... My only con is TICKETMASTER, Their surcharges are insane. I really do wish we could buy tickets another way for every metal concert not just progpower.

There really is an easy way to look at the ticket cost:

If the event has a number of bands that one is really interested in, then the price is far beyond a bargain. There have been previous lineups that have played years ago that would be a ridiculous deal even at the current ticket price.

or...

If the event has a very small number of bands that one is interested in (fill in your own blanks), then maybe the cost is a little extravagant to one possibly interested in buying a ticket.

That's really what it boils down to. It's a personal decision based on the current lineup. One could complain all they want about how the lineup may not possibly be as good as it used to, but that's what life is all about. Things get better, get worse, or just maintain a consistency. It's all a choice to make.

I will go based on the naming of the rest of the lineup, that's just me. It is a great venue and fest to go to.

WTF?

I thinsksome of the opening bands pay all the costs to play. It doesn't make any sense to have international openers that won't sell that many tickets... The cost is just absurd... I might be wrong, and I have no way of proving it, but that's what I meant by it...

I think the word 'elite', especially in the context of the ProgPower audience, can be interpreted in different ways. I tend to think of the word exclusive or even privileged when thinking about this festival. Being involved as a fan, performer and crew member from the beginning has given me more opportunity and amazing experiences than I can even count. Its more than just a concert for most of the attendees. In fact, there was a time when almost everyone knew everyone else.

The atmosphere that Glenn has built for each and every person that attends each year is a feeling of brotherhood. A feeling of unique comeraderie that otherwise would not exist in this cold industry. Hell, when people are willing to attend this event and spend their hard earned cash, sometimes missing important events in their own lives even when they don't care for many (or any) bands on the roster is an incredible gesture to this community and really says a lot about what Glenn has been able to accomplish. As he has said many times over, this is a business first and foremost but I can tell you that he truly LOVES doing this for everyone that loves this type of music, not just himself.

With this festival he has influenced and sparked many a band and has literally lit a fire under the prog/power community. The amount of crap he has had to deal with on a daily basis just to continue to put forth his best, is unmeasurable and whatever decisions he has to make in order to keep it going is fine by me, and from what I can tell is fine by the majority of his audience as well.

Glenn deserves any and all positive things that could come from putting on such an incredible festival, and that includes profit. I understand the issues brought up in this thread and some are legitimate issues but when there are very few people willing to go through as much as Glenn has gone through for for a first class festival like PP, I think the least we can do is allow him to do what he feels is best for everyone. I also think its pretty gracious of him to even entertain the type of feedback he gets, most promoters wouldn't give a rats ass. Glenn clearly does, especially after reading this thread.

Cheers Glenn!

What he said. Ditto!

Oh, and returning bands...I personally don't think this happens enough, actually. Seeing a band two times in a three year period isn't exactly excrutiating, IMO.
Then again, maybe it's just me...

I have no issue seeing some bands year end-year out! (what a great idea for a thread!). But what I reall like is buying cds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And seeing cool people doesn't suck either!
