I like pie.
this is 2006. black metal isnt "MEANT" to be primitive and raw anymore. but to say you enjoy bands like xasthur or deathspell omega and then completely write off mayhem and darkthrone is just fucking absurd, im sorry...but it is.

The Hubster said:Thats my OPINION, which I have clearly stated in my post to him. I wrote "thats my personal taste", in no way do I state that Mayhem and DT have nothing to do with BM overall. They ARE important to the movement, i simply dont like them.
Its my TASTE. Read the post again before trying to act all high and mighty.
PS - if Black Metal "isnt meant to be raw and primitive anymore" then go and listen to Taake and 1349 and you'll find yourself very wrong. I think YOU Need to do some research here before slamming me like this.
We all know Black Metal has grown a lot. My posts are meant to help him find a way to get STARTED. You should do the same instead of wasting time finding where I am wrong.

NineFeetUnderground said:i said it isnt meant to be primitive and raw anymore. not that is CANT be. some bands still do that style quite well, i was retoring your assumption that i felt all black metal should be primitive. i dont need to do anymore research pal, ive FORGOTTEN more black metal than youll ever hope to KNOW.
and for the record, taake's last 2 albums have completely sucked...and 1349 has NEVER been good.
Benighted1 said:probably a silly question but what do you think of Dimmu Borgior?
particulary their earlier stuff? I remember seen one of their albums with a castle on the cover and someone on a horse and thinking what an awesome cover it was..![]()

Taake is the best black metal band to come out of Norway since Emperor and Enslaved. Period
The Hubster said:In 2006, Black Metal *can* be raw, and it can also be technical. That is the difference now, it has *expanded* which you clearly have not.
Taake's last two albums are masterpieces as any Black Metal enthusiast knows, and 1349 are getting better with each release, now being recognised for the force they are capable of being.
You are SO out of the loop! For someone who claims to be open minded by listening to non-metal, you contradict yourself by implying you condemn anything which isnt first wave! When was the last time you properly investigated any of the post-first wave releases? Clearly you've listened to very little and yet post as though you've listened to everything.
Not only that but you obviously failed to read what I wrote properly - I mentioned Negura Bunget, Emperor's and Enslaved's later works for him to ease into - these are NOT raw. They are more refined and technical works (and they are fantastic at that).
Figure your story out and get back to us. You've made a real ass of yourself.
Ikil said:BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! uh no.
Yeah, Taake hasn't had much competition cause its all been crap. But hell, what they do is incredible and certainly matches and slays majority of the early black metal bands big time.
yeah i just checked out the band on google and found that that's their one album. thanks, thougharzachel said:dead as dreams.
