i've said this before, i like music that feels more like a conjuring or outpouring than merely a bunch of guys jamming together, it has to either be visceral and stripped down or full of mystery and magic, or preferably a combination of the two. led zep i think go for the latter at times but only occasionally pull it off, whereas stuff like ac/dc and aerosmith is largely grounded in posturing and sleaze.

yeah man, especially 'disraeli gears'. if you haven't heard may blitz's s/t definitely check that one out, it's very creamish in places and very very awesome

I think most fans would pick these hard-rock bands...in any given order. The only one that I really like in the group would be Van Halen...so this isn't a faves list, just bands that deserve props and who I think the general public would pick.
