extremely cheap food

More expensive than a whole chicken, but easier to deal with, buying a big pack of chicken breasts and then individually freezing them for future use.

Recommending the pasta mentions, make sure it's whole wheat or you're just throwing away money on something that lacks much nutritional quality.

Cook those up and a cheap amazingly delicious sauce to top them with can just be made from canned crushed tomatoes. Add some seasonings (like oregano and basil) and you have a sauce that tastes better than premade jarred sauces at a fraction of the price.

Spices and seasonings are an expensive initial investment but they will last a long time and make up for their initial cost many times over in flavor and the multiple ways you can spice (pun) up your self-made cheapo meals.

Erik, several years ago I came up with a way to eat on $5 a day. I don't remember exactly what was on the list but I remember rice and black beans played a big role. Derek's oatmeal and peanut is an excellent idea also.

LOL @ Jerry. One of the funniest posts ever

You can easily grow a basil plant on your porch or window ledge or whatever. Get one.

I actually shop at the dollar store alot, and the selection is better than you may think.

Err, at least the dollar stores around here are anyway!

yeah whatever happened with people eating meals of bread and cheese, maybe i should do that more

well at least use em for a couple of sandwiches or just eat them as a hand-fruit!
no i am going to throw them the fuck away

This picture makes me feel like if the camera were to pan up it'd be a desolate landscape of "the zone".
Thankfully, my English is far from perfect that's why I don't really understand what you are meaning with your post. In this case I'm just going to say that this food on the photo has true spirit of nature, earth and orthodoxy in it.

Transilvanian lunch indeed ... that's a Romanian newspaper.
All that stuff there is so awesome. :kickass:
Indeed, my friend! :kickass:

I guess he is referring to the restricted area around Chernobyl. Perhaps influenced by playing the excellent PC game "Stalker".
