Do you believe in fate? Why or why not? What is your idea of how time and purpose work, or, if you believe they do, work together?

I think if you believe in fate then you may just go through life waiting for things to happen, life is too short to sit around waiting for things to happen, I WANT TO LIVE!!![]()

fate....... everything is only going to happen one way. You may be able to have an effect on what happens in the future by doing something now, but either way, only ONE thing is going to happen..... time only takes one path, not 300000. Therefore fate must exist..... it doesnt hvae to be set in stone in some magical palace, but theres just one way everything is going to happen. will a teacher pop a quiz or not today... either way, whichver one happens happens, and that's fate

i believe there is something like fate. call it your "will", call it your genes, call it your god. i believe my actions are controlled by my heritage of genes plus my experiences in my life. you know, i will be curious the first time i touch the hot oven, next time i won't touch because of my experience. but all i do derives from something. of course i can force myself to do something (touching the oven once again), but even this will be result of my current situation and how my genes tell me to react. without a strong willpower i won't succeed. and willpower is defined in my genes and my experience.
i don't like the thought either, to be controlled by something, but i think that's the way it is...
some of you might think, well then why don't you just sit around and wait for something to happen? well, it's obvious to me: it's in my genesi just have to eraze the thought of not being capable of controlling what i do.
but... i first have to define "I" and "Me". this was done before... is it my brain? is it my genes? is it my experience? it is the sum of all. and therefore i cannot say i'm controlled by someone ELSE, i'm fully controlled by ME, by my body, and i simply can't do anything about it. that makes it easier to accept. in fact i (my body) controls my actions, mut they are predictable nevertheless (like what some would call "fate")...

Another question is, if you knew your fate, would you accept it? Would you try to change it, try to alter it?

i've always thought of life as like a cd being played for the first time, all the music is already stored on it even though you may not have heard it all, all you are aware of is that at which point you have reached and that which you have already heard, and so life continues on the spiral until reaching the end and all the music has been heard, i also like to think of different times of my life as different songs, i think im at the start of the third song right now, hopefully it'll be better than the last, it was a bit repetitive![]()
