Morningrise... but MAYH is RIGHT there... in fact i kinda eeny meeny miny moe'd it. Also Still Life is up there.

I voted for Blackwater Park, even though in my mind it probably ties with MAYH. But I can't really understand Morningrise's lead. Except for Black Rose Immortal, I just can't get into that one like the others.
How long have you been listening to Opeth? I have been listening since just before the release of Morningrise. I loved MAYH when it came out as well as Still life but over time the first two cd's proved superior. I believe this is b/c they are produced better. That "new" rythem guitar sound all the albums have from MAYH and on starts to sound repetitive, expected, uninteresting, etc. While I still like the 3rd cd and beyond, Morningrise will always have a spot on my top 10 albums off all time list and Orchid with time has proven better to me than the newer albums as I go back to it ofen and rarely go back to the newer stuff that always sounds all to familiar despite how long it's been since I've heard the cd.
Compared to any other Opeth song, Demon of the Fall sucks ass.

There has been a similar poll here at least twice, and twice before have I answered "Morningrise". Now, however, I think I'll go for "My Arms, Your Hearse" - just for the change.

Orchid by a very narrow margin. I've always had a HELL of a time trying to rank the albums. I just said Orchid because it has the most of top 5 songs...(2)
This is something I think about every now and then:
All Opeth albums are so good that the choice is really between which feeling I like the most. If I was to choose which Cd sounds the best I would have to say Still life just a bit over BWP. If I had to say which songwriting was the best I would say MAYH just a bit over the Still Life.
But they all carry different feelings. Orchid and Morningrise are a bit similar. Between MAYH, Still Life and BWP, they are all very different as to the feelings they convey.
Orchid is wild and mysterious, also chaotic,
Morningrise is the most beautiful and romantic in lament and sadness, (in contrast to the name it has)
MAYH is the beautiful and most evil,
Still Life is lovely, actually its probably the most joyous one (in contrast to the name it has),
and finally BWP is dark, but also very strong, powerful.
My favorite? Morningrise by far, followed by MAYH, Still life, Orchid and BWP. In that order.
