It actually inspired me to do an impressionist painting of the scene of Rhayader and Fritha watching the Snow Goose taking flight. No other album has actually made me want to pick up my brush and paint along to it.

This is hard! It's interesting to see that my picks aren't, primarily, metal... ah well

Aqualung - Jethro Tull
Animals - Pink Floyd
Signify - Porcupine Tree
Sgt. Pepper - The Beatles

and, I'm sorry to say, I'm a sucker for...
David Bowie - Space Oddity

:)

Black Sabbath - "Master Of Reality"
Finntroll - "Nattfödd"
Opeth - "Deliverance"
Tool - "Lateralus"

These are in the chronological order... when I first heard them. :headbang:

These albums all had a huge effect on me. "Master Of Reality" got me into metal, "Nattfödd" made me interested in folk/mythology stuff, through which I learned a lot about Baltic folklore and about my ancestors, etc. "Deliverance" got me into Opeth, and all progressive music. Finally, "Lateralus" is something that I can't stop listening to at the moment.

Argh, I have too many to pick one. However if I did it would probably be one of Bob Dylan's classic (Highway 61 or Blonde on Blonde) or possibly a Beatles or Zep album.

However my usual list of favorites is:
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
Beatles: Sgt. Pepper
Bob Dylan: Highway 61, Blonde on Blonde
Zeppelin: III and Physical Graffiti
Sabbath: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers
Opeth: Still Life
Porcupine Tree: In Absentia and Signify

And my favorite live album is The Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense.

Yeah umm.... I'll just change the whole feeling of the thread and make it current favourite, as I can't be arsed thinking..

Solefald - Red for Fire - An Icelandic Odyssey Part 1 ... the disc is melting..

EDIT: I think my favourite would be Sigur Rós - ( ) .. or .. maybe Ágætis Byrjun ..
