Good call on MAYH from Opeth.
I really need to check out some stuff from Pain Of Salvation.
Remedy Lane or The Perfect Element would be a good starting point. Those are probably the most accessible (they were for me at least)

It's my least favorite Rush album, and I certainly wouldn't include any of the prog "standard" albums either... they just don't interest me anymore.I can't believe no one besides jax had Rush 2112 in their top concept albums.
1. Rush - 2112
2. Symphony X - V
3. Dream Theater - Scenes from a memory.
Thanks for the recommend. I want to check these guys out. I had heard that they were a bit eclectic.Remedy Lane or The Perfect Element would be a good starting point. Those are probably the most accessible (they were for me at least)
It's not conceptual at all...
Sorry but you are misinformed. All of the songs are based on works of literature by Stephen King, who himself ties his works together.
I got that album and i didn't like it much. Haven't bothered with Pain of Salvation sincedon't listen to BE first. as awesome as it is, it's a great divider. people either love it or completely hate it. same with their new disc.
And...
Nevermore - Dreaming Neon Black
