I guess it's odd that I find The Gallery to be one of my least favorite DT albums to listen to. I put down the Mind's I, because even though my first DT album was Haven, TMI is what really got me into their sound. Hedon still haunts me to this day.
And that whole music->place/time thing is true of just about every album I've ever listened to. The biggest ones, though are still: Samael-Passage = Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer, Summer of '02; Ulver-Perdition City-Porn Piece = Winter of '02-'03; In Flames - STYE = Winter-Spring of '04.
I don't believe how you guys didn't vote for Damage Done! It is truly the fuckin' best album! Each and every song is amazing! Although my favorite song for Dark Tranquillity is Punish My Heaven ofcourse... But still...
I find myself listening to exposures most out of all the releases these days, but I just didn't want to vote for it as it's just tracks that didn't make the cut on to the actual albums, despite it still holding together quite well cohesively as an album. Still, it seems more like a "you never heard these... but it's still our best of." CD... if that makes any sense
Maybe the songs were too good to make it on the albums.. Like "if we put this song on, then the rest of the album will sound like crap.. So let's just take it off".
I think they actually did that with the song "exposures"... it sounded more like something from character than from projector. Amazing riffs and arrangements in it. It would have definately stood out. Damaging to the album, but only because it was far too ballsy.
Maybe he's talking about the live cd included in Exposures. But i agree with what KC said. The song Exposures is certainly among the best of DT. But they didn't want hardcore songs on Projector (the only one close being The Sun Fired Blanks). I'm gald they decided to put it out with Exposures: In Retrospect and Denial, it would be a loss for us fans if they didn't.
