Favorite Maiden CD

Hey Fangface, we're of the same mind! :loco: Although Piece of Mind will always have a special place, since it was the first metal album I ever bought with my own money way back when I was only 13.
Hehe let's see if we're the same mind : do you also think that "Number of the Beast" is inconsistent? :D

*awaits the fury of NotB maniacs*

Here is my rankings of all the studio albums of Maiden

1. Powerslave
2. Somewhere in Time
3. Piece of Mind
4. Seventh Son
5. Brave New World
6. Number of the Beast
7. Killers
8. Fear of the Dark
9. Iron Maiden
10. Dance of Death
11. No Prayer for the Dying
12. X-Factor

sorry, I forgot this thread existed. I hate it when I make a thread and the two weeks later remember to check on it. Ah well. As far as Im concerned, its all good. But I still like Powerslave alot, and Number of the beast is close in second currently. My favorites change all the time.

Yes it is. 'Invaders' sucks! Until "Fear Of The Dark" came out, I was pissed to have recorded (on tape) all Iron Maiden songs but that one. Only one song destroyed a perfect record...then FOTD and Blaze era albums did the rest for the record

Besides 'Gangland' doesn't live to the rest of the album, and 'The Prisoner' does not impress me like it does with everybody. To me the album itself is:

'Children Of The Damned'
'22, Acacia Avenue'
'The Number Of The Beast'
'Run To The Hills'
'Hallowed Be Thy Name' :worship:

two fillers: 'Gangland' and 'The Prisoner'
crap: 'Invaders'

*Now you have two people to shoot Fang and Me*

Nah, I gotta say I really dont like Invaders either. Maiden was pretty consistent, but most metal is. The most consistent thing ever... was oldschool Metallica. From Kill em All to Justice, they never put out one bad song. In my oppinion.

Crap...I forgot about this thread. Sorry, Fangface--I wasn't ignoring you!

Actually, I DO agree with you and Wyvern. Invaders has to be the worst song Maiden ever recorded (yeah, I said it!)...followed only by Gangland...and The Prisoner is a so-so song (not bad, but not good).

BUT, having said that, the classics on the album make up for these clunkers in spades. Let's just say if I were stuck on a deserted island and could only have five songs...I would be quite happy with the five other songs on NotB.

:Smokin:

People agreeing with me on 'Invaders'....this place is so nice is like being among family :D

The best part, is that 'Invasion' with Dianno I do like, but that opener from NOTB is the worst in Maiden history (with Bruce) until DOD

@ RFV: I agree. Metallica didn't fuck up in the first four albums, but the last one is inconsistent do to one song, which one?

Not this question again!

All of them :hypno:

But I do have a soft spot for SSOASS as it was my first :worship:

I agree somewhat too... Invaders is weak. I don't HATE it, but if it wasn't on the record, I wouldn;t miss it. I DO however really dig "The Prisoner"! Gangland is a good song too, but pales in comaprison to TNOTB, RTTH, HBTN, 22AA, COTD!

Cheers!

Fear of the Dark or X-Factor!

:Puke: :Puke: X-Factor....come on Blaze was never a Maiden member as far as I'm concerned. Why does no one mention "No prayer for the dying', you've got Mother Russia, Running Silent, Hook's in You, Tailgunner etc.
Their best album would be Live after death or any any other compolation album, in general they just don't suck!

Because maybe the rest despise it the same way you do with Blaze era albums (so do I). To me NPFTD is a pretty weak album in general, and 'Holy Smoke' kills the poor consistency the album may have. IMO, the only real Maiden song of that album is 'Run Silent, Run Deep'. If we eant to start the "purist wars" again Maiden lost their magic after SSOASS, some will say after Bruce, some will say after Dianno, some will say after BNW, etc.

Different people, different opinions ;)

I agree with the "Holy Smoke" comment, the rest of the album sounds perfect to me, the thing is just I'll never nominate a non-Bruce album as a fav, that is the way I like to think of as Maiden. Anyway they never lost it completely (like Metallica did) all their albums are great I suppose, but the Blaze ones are a substandard to their work.

I believe that the great majority of metalheads and Maiden fans will agree with that assestment
