Favorite Maiden CD

:Puke: :Puke: X-Factor....come on Blaze was never a Maiden member as far as I'm concerned. Why does no one mention "No prayer for the dying', you've got Mother Russia, Running Silent, Hook's in You, Tailgunner etc.
Their best album would be Live after death or any any other compolation album, in general they just don't suck!

I will try to explain this so you understand .... I got into maiden because I thought and STILL do think Blaze Bayley has a Better voice than Bruce Dickheadson Granted After hearing Bruce do allll the old songs for years hearing a Boot with Blaze doing old songs wasnt the best but it wasnt all that bad ..... Basicly if Maiden never had Blaze I wouldnt be a Maiden fan today so yes "X-Factor"

I believe that the great majority of metalheads and Maiden fans will agree with that assestment

I will HALF agree with this well Maybe quarter agree ... I adore X-Factor I always will But Virtual was pretty terrible but that wasnt because of Blaze that was Shitty song writing in general, IMO the only 2 good songs on it were Dont Look to the Eyes of a Stranger and Como Estais Amigos so yeah!

If Blaze made you a Maiden fan he can't be all that bad I suppose. I don't mean to say you're wrong or anything like that, I just feel between him, Paul and Bruce he was the worst and personally I think Maiden could have done without those albums' but that's just me.

Dont even get me going on Paul ........ BLAZE RULES IMO ofcourse

Well, lot's of different opinions keep the forum alive.
Some like Blaze, some Bruce, I like Dianno most.
Not that he's a better singer than Bruce, no discussion about
that , but I like the raw sound of the first albums more than
the later stuff...and Dianno fits that early sound best.

Is that Paul or Baron Von Raschke? :) Killers is my favourite, though I don't have it on CD. In order, my favourites are:

1) Killers
2) Iron Maiden
3) Powerslave
4) Piece of Mind
5) Number of the Beast
6) Brave New World
7) Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
8) Somewhere in Time (these last 2 flip around a lot)

I do think "Number of the Beast" is a bit inconsistent, but they were sort of changing into a different kind of band and needed a little room. I appreciate that album much more now than I did when I was younger. I remember when I bought the "Run to the Hills" 12" and heard "Total Eclipse", I couldn't understand why that song wasn't on the LP; I still think it rules. The live recordings from that time are my favourite with Bruce - for some reason, I think he sounded leagues better singing any of the Paul songs in 1981-2 than he ever did later. I don't know what happened, really, but I'm grateful for the "Beast over Hammersmith" set being released.

I still haven't heard all of "Dance of Death", so I can't place it. I haven't been able to get all the way through either of the Blaze ones yet. I've heard about half each of the two. I remembered liking "The Fugitive" from "Fear of the Dark" when it was out, but heard the album again a couple of months ago and it didn't do much for me. I don't care for "No Prayer for the Dying" either, except for one part - Bruce's "ultra-Bruce" delivery of the line "All the way down to Davy Jones" from Run Silent, Run Deep. Okay - the bass in the chorus of "Tailgunner" is kind of cool, too, and some songs like "The Assassin" have decent music but the lyrics are scraping the barrel a bit.

YIKES!!! :yow:

I saw Maiden with Blaze live once (I believe it was back in 98 or 99), and he SU-SU-SU-SU-SUUUUUCKED! It was the only time I didn't enjoy a Maiden show. It was actually painful to watch, and hear... he had horrid stage presence/audience interaction, and couldn't sing the classic stuff... they even left "Run To The Hills" out of the set.

I've seen Maiden 5 times since Bruce and Adrian came back, and they are as awesome live these days as they ever were in the 80s!

Cheers!

 poor JD

I don't hate Blaze, I'm not a fan of XF and VXI but I still have a lot of respect for him, it takes guts & balls to replace Bruce.
At least he works hard on his solo career and he won't end up like our washed-up DiAnno who can't sing anymore and who can't do anything besides (terrible) Maiden covers.

Man Talk about feeling like an Outsider ..............

Don't. Since you got into Maiden when Blaze was in the band, you didn't have the same ideas of what Maiden should sound like as those of us who were into them from the early years.

I only really got into Anthrax when John Bush joined the band. I think he's a way better vocalist than Joey Belladonna, but a lot of old-school Anthrax fans either don't like John at all, or think that Anthrax changed for the worse with his joining,a nd don;t "accept" him. SO in a lot of Anthrax discussions, I am the "outsider", hehehe... doesn't matter to me, though.

Music is always a personal thing, so if you prefer Blaze, it's all good.

Cheers!

I will say My first Maiden disc was the first album and I liked that .... I'v just never been the Biggest Bruce fan ... For me personally X-Factor was a very important album and Inspirational I can still remember the thrill I got Learning Fortunes of War .... and it was also part of the Soundtrack of my quiting drinking in a small way it helped me through it goes way beyond the industry and things like that ... I can also totally identify with Blaze and his struggles with alcohol His voice to me is soothing and reasurring .... thats why I get worked up ..... its more than Just a Maiden album to me .... Like you said its a personal thing ........ As for John Bush Man Sound of White Noise totally got me into Thrax! and for the most part I do agree that John is a better singer He might not have the range Joey USED to have but he is a Thousand times the performer Joey was ........... Anyways sorry bout my bitchin hahahaha I'v had a stressful week! Thanks Guys
