Favorite Maiden CD

YIKES!!! :yow:

I saw Maiden with Blaze live once (I believe it was back in 98 or 99), and he SU-SU-SU-SU-SUUUUUCKED! It was the only time I didn't enjoy a Maiden show. It was actually painful to watch, and hear... he had horrid stage presence/audience interaction, and couldn't sing the classic stuff... they even left "Run To The Hills" out of the set.

I've seen Maiden 5 times since Bruce and Adrian came back, and they are as awesome live these days as they ever were in the 80s!

I think Dianno kinda looks like Fred Durst on that pic... sucks for him!

Yeah, I guess it would have been ok if he didn't sing very well but at least was a good frontman or viceversa, but obviously he couldn't do neither!

And John Bush rules all :kickass:

man... me and only one other person liked Live After Death? lol .. granted its a live album.. but it was still a kick ass album and the songs were much better live then on the studio versions.. anyways other then that... on the album cover.. on Eddie's tombstone.. there is a few lines from a H.P. Lovecraft book.. does anyone know which book? i might want to pick it up... or can anyone recommend a Lovecraft book? ...

If my memory serves, it's from "The Call of Cthulhu". One of the best collections I've seen is The Annotated HP Lovecraft edited by ST Joshi. It has most of Lovecraft's best stuff and a ton of footnotes to help explain some of HPL's more obscure musings. Once you're done with that, there's More Annotated HP Lovecraft available as a follow up. Hope that helps!

:Smokin:

Edit: Crap--"The Call of Cthulhu" is in the second volume. But the first volume has "The Rats in the Walls" which is a great story.

Live After Death kicks ASS! It's just that Number Of the Beast is my favourite Maiden record. Honestly, with the exception of the Blaze albums, I really dig ALL of Iron Maiden's albums (sorry JD! ;)). The funny thing is that the Blaze-era songs I've seen them perform live with Bruce singing sound really good! I just can't get past Blaze's voice on the CDs... I've tried... I REALLY have!

Cheers!

but a lot of old-school Anthrax fans either don't like John at all, or think that Anthrax changed for the worse with his joining
Who called me?

My favourites would be Killers or The X Factor.

The '80s albums post dianno arn't listenable, is it just me or can Bruce Dickinson not sing to save his life?

I'm sure you're not the only one that thinks that. But, I would say that you are definitely in the minority!

Cheers!

hahahaha!

Well personally even though a few of the IM albums are weaker then others I can appreciate them all...even on the weaker albums there is always a gem or a few gems that rescue the album for ex. NPFTD, FOTD, Virtual xi...Maiden are my fav band but I do have to be honest in agreeing that they have written their share of weak songs...specially in the 90's...probably creativity was running low, but I don't blame any single bandmember for that...it happens at some point or other to any band. I am just glad that they came back with BNW and DOD which kicked my ass...seeing Pachendale live this year was a surreal event

And for the record...I never liked Paul's voice...never did anything for me.

Thanks Rakosh.. I'll definetly look into it.. obviously Metallica also was influenced by his writings.. I once saw a episode of a Lovecraft story on the Sci-Fi channel on cable.. was a weird story but i liked it.. i forgot the title.. was a princess with like tentacles for legs who was trying to get her brother to join her and her father in their kingdom.. he thought he was human and didnt believe he was a freak/creature/monster like them.. till he fell or jumped down a well and gills started growing on his body (after he set himself on fire and the princess pushed him into the well i remember now) etc.. any idea which story that is? ...
