Its nothing like the current death and black metal scene.

Yeah, it's not shit for the most part.

I know quite a lot of new traditional Metal and have some tapes and vinyl in the mail on it's way to me as I type, in fact right now I'm listening to a Convent Guilt tape.

All depends on what you consider mediocre to mean, if you're after a traditional Metal band that doesn't sound traditional, aka typical, I guess I see your point.
I like my traditional Metal to sound traditional.
