^ Yeah, really liking the 5150 III for leads. Really similar to the 5150 but just seems slightly smoother.

I still like 5150s plenty for leads too... just needs a little more mids and a dark delay/verb to smooth it out a little

Yeah, it's just not quite smooth enough for leads.

He definitely has used rectos before.

Yes, he's used them live and in the studio. However, whenever he used them, he had a Mark (IIC+ or IV) or Road King right beside it for leads.

They aren't much good for anything else, but I've gotten some good lead tones out of an ENGL Powerball before.

Also +1 to vintage mode soloing on a recto.

I will also say +1 for vintage on Recto...but I could never get the volumes right across the board for channel switching live.

I'm surprised by the number of 5150s and Rectos! 5150 is a bit rough-sounding for leads and I've never really seen Rectos as much of lead amps.

Ever hear any Marcus lead tone?
