Film Soundtracks

Elfman is far from a hack. What makes you think that anyway?

the fact that hes made the SAME soundtrack 30 times now. hes predictable, boring and merely hype at this point. just listen to spiderman charlie and the chocolate factory and planet of the apes for fucks sake.

Death's Design

umm...thats not a soundtrack.

NFU, do you do anything else besides listen to music? I don't even know how you can perceive as much music as you do and actually remember what you're hearing enough to make the judgments you do.

says who? certainly not the musicians who wrote the music, the label, the people who listen to it, and the millions of webpages stocking it and reviewing it. If you're bored, surely you can find something better to argue about.

death's design is not a movie kid...stop being retarded. it was just a gimick created by blackheim to fool douches like you into buying it.

plz stfu before you continue to embarrass yourself

You have become rediculously elitist and arrogant it seems. If you believe for a second that someone made the choice to buy it because "it was a soundtrack", then you are a joke. Do you know what "Burden of proof" means? it means you are going to have to prove to me it's not a soundtrack if you are going to be taken seriously. I know the "debate", and i have yet to see anyone make a comment that goes any further than speculation, as you have. If it makes you happy i will take it off the list, but i don't really know what you are trying to prove. Maybe that you know more than me? perhaps you do. I don't actually care though.

I have a passion for film and saying that also means that I also collect classic soundtracks and DVDs.

My favourite composer is Angelo Badalamenti, he has scored all of David Lynch's films since Blue Velvet (1986).

I love all his scores, but my favourites are:

* Blue Velvet
* Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
* The Straight Story
* Mulholland Dr.

These are simply amazing. Lost Highway can't be compared to these ones, anyway some mentioned A Clockwork Orange OST, very good choice, but check out Kubrick's Barry Lyndon OST (oscar winning soundtrack). It's even better!

Furthermore I'd like to say something about Tim Burton's sidekick - Danny Elfmann. He's good (but not John Williams!) and has a certain atmosphere and style which gives alot in return. A Nightmare Before Christmas is his best IMO...

And I really have to give credit to Ennio Morricone, who are the best "soundtracker" in the world! His music is pure Mozartian!

kid, seriously...stop. hes said repeatedly in interviews and elsewhere that it was a fraud...just a concept album mimicking a film soundtrack. just look it up just about anywhere...youll figure it out. im not going to post proof here because i frankly dont care enough, and youre the first moron ive ever met who actually thought it was a real soundtrack for a real movie. i bet you think the blair witch project was real too yes? and i dont need to "prove" i know more than you...i think its blatantly obvious...but this isnt about displaying that. i was just trying to correct you when you put a diabolical masquerade album in a "film soundtracks" thread, LOL :tickled:

you can argue ad hominem all you want, i don't care what you think of me. I want to know where you get your information from, and none of these interviews where "he" (blackheim or swano?) repeatedly acknowledges the whole soundtrack thing as a fraud seem to exist. One link, i only need one. Can you do that, or are you extremely busy?

Look if you want to find out, make a thread about it on the katatonia forum either anders will answer or someone who knows will answer. Although anders pretty much answers all the questions anyway except the one that are like Heyyyy BLAKKKHEIM COMMEE TO '' '' or something. I think i made acouple of those threads in my time lol :D

This is a good thread.

My personal favourite movie soundtrack is, by a loooooong way:

Old Boy

Yoeng Wook Jo did such an amazing job here... Absolutely wonderful, simple music that fits the movie better than any other soundtrack I've ever seen. I reccommend you see the movie before buying the soundtrack though. Neither will disappoint, both are awesome.

There are lots of other good soundtracks, but some that spring to mind are:
American Beauty
Interview With The Vampire (minus the GnR song)
Six Feet Under (tv, obviously, but still cool)

Can't be bothered thinking of more right now... get Oldboy! :grin:
