Report: Police Called In To Control Crowds At METALLICA's Australian Show - Jan. 29, 2004
Police were called in to stop unruly fans who attempted to force their way into METALLICA's sold-out show in Melbourne, Australia Wednesday night (Jan. 28), according to Undercover.
The fence surrounding the Myer Music Bowl was pushed over at one stage with one fan telling Undercover about four people ran through before being pursued by security.
Police were called and lined about 20 squad cars around the fenced off area to successfully block further attempts of a break through and diffuse a potential riot, according to Undercover. They patrolled the fenced off area throughout the gig stopping any chaos brewing.
Here is the setlist from METALLICA's show at the Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne, Wednesday, January 28, 2004:
01. Battery
02. The Four Horsemen
03. Ride The Lightning
04. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
05. The Thing That Should Not Be
06. Frantic
07. Creeping Death
08. The Unnamed Feeling
09. Sad But True
10. One
11. Damage Inc.
-------------------
12. Seek and Destroy
13. Nothing Else Matters
14. Master Of Puppets
-------------------
15. St. Anger
16. Enter Sandman
-------------------
17. Die, Die My Darling
18. Hit The Lights
I was wondering what the flashing lights were. I thought they were apart of the show, til i turned and looked around.
The only bad thing about the gig, was being up the front of the baracade in General Admission (Reserved seating was up the front and GA was at the back going down a hill). The weight of the crowd pushing forward down a hill is so forcefull it was hard to breathe.
Highlight of the night for me (apart from the old songs played) was, nearly 13,000 people singing the intro to Frayed ends of Sanity and MetallicA doing a fuck around jam to it.
It is starting to become one of my favorite shows that ive seen. Until I see TestAmenT!!!
