Evile's second album marks a genuine milestone in thrash as the band effortlessly ups the ante, propelling the UK thrash outfit into the big leagues.
On 'Infected Nations', Evile takes thrash metal's '80s blueprints - ripping riffs and shredding solos - but refines them into a wholly more ferocious and modern beast. Having undertaken touring stints with MEGADETH, EXODUS and big shows with MACHINE HEAD, the band emerged from the studio with a new-found sense of dynamics, maturity and bag-fulls of catchy-but-pounding songs. Still proud to call themselves thrash metal, Evile just raised the bar for their fellow new-schoolers to strive for.

Okay so album number one was a great album (I had to buy it twice, second time for the dvd) but it was more than a bit overshadowed by some serious "Slayer Worship", this time however they had been writing for sometime, matured and found a brilliant producer with Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Nemhain, Dimmu Borgir).

Kicking off with 'Infected Nation' its mellow intro soon gives way to some classy thrash and it soon becomes obvious that the band have found their own style and that Matt has had a revelation vocally and really comes into his own here.

'Now Demolition' moves along like part two of track one, it has the same groove.'Nosophoros' borders on speed metal and has some great guitar solo's in it, one to crack the neck live i think.
'Genocide' is the first mini epic coming in a 7 minutes 42 seconds, it's slow paced and a real "grower" (If that makes any sense) "These demons are only men" go the dark and well written lyrics.

'Plague To End All Plagues' is another mid paced headbanger punctuated by some evil chords.
'Devoid Of Thought' is pure early eighties thrash as is the next track.'Metamorphosis' has some great bass work running through it and is another 7 minute epic.

Finally we come to the awesome 11 minutes and 14 seconds of 'Hundred Wrathful Deities' some beautiful guitarwork leads us into slow almost doom like thrash, plenty of harmony guitar work and a few solos, but most surprisingly of all its an instrumentle!

A stunning and mature album and one which will stand the test of time for the next twenty years, as i believe Jimmy Frankles would say Brilllliaaannnntttt!

Total respect here as well to Earache who are releasing a 2 disc version to start with, thus not taking 2 lots of money off the fans, and thanks for the advanced copy.

Rating 10/10

For Fans Of : Slayer, Mutant, Exodus, Virus

haha i love how it completely skips over metamorphosis, which is my favourite thing we've ever done. it's also the most progressive thing on the album as well, haha bizarre how it's not mentioned.

chuffed with a 10/10 though! bonnngggg

Thats a point Matt, I had a song called Metamorphosis and had to change the title because you announced it on your tracklisting  Same happened with Demolition! STOP GOING THROUGH MY DRAWS AND STEALING MY TITLES/BEER FUND!!

Evile: Infected Nation

This lot have a serious old-school Metallica fixation that comes through their tunes like some seeping evil. This is pre-Black album at its finest. Part of the new wave of traditional thrash, these guys take their thrash seriously. Its quite infectious stuff that does put a smile on even the most cynical older thrash fan. Straight ahead old school thrash, the type that was peddled by the big four (Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer) and their imitators to such success.

While the playing is crisp and precise, this is not really of the Testament variety of uber-clever thrash. Its catchy raucous sing along thrash metal. Its so good because it doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t. Its such a relief to have a band not trying to do something too clever before they are ready. Just check out the title track if you don’t believe me. It’s a great album and one that will probably be on quite a few best of the year lists come late this year. This bunch have the potential to rival bands like Trivium for the new breed thrash metal stakes. And while this album has the ability to attract at the first listen, its not just pleasurable filler that gets old quick. I predict people will listening to this one for quite a while.

*facepalm*

Why des everyone feel to need to comapred Evile to Testament, Slayer, Metallica and Sepultura continuously?

because we do thrash metal, its standard for any review to use the word thrash at least twenty times and namedrop other old bands. if we get compared to massive old bands who were good, doesnt do any harm, at least we havent been compared to shit bands....

unfair maybe, because you get compared to bands that A LOT of people love and theres no way you're ever going to be better than that in peoples heads, so when they hear that theres a band that get compared to these bands they love then theyre going to hear us and think its shit because its not as good as these bands that we've all loved for 20 years, you can't better them.

so maybe it is unfair in a way, but still, its not a bad comparison i guess.

either way, people are going to hear this album and make a decision, its shit or it isnt. same for every band.
