Floyd Rose users!

EVH also sets his Floyd to rest firmly on the top of the body instead of being free-floating. I had a Steve Stevens Washburn set up this way and it does sound better.

It didn't restrict the movement of my bridge whatsoever. If you don't have alot of room to move to begin with, you may have some interference. You'll just have to check.

I was happy with the tone of my guitar as well, but this really blew me away. If it wasn't a significant improvement I would never have posted this.

The new block is so much heavier than the original block it's not even funny. You are definitely adding alot of mass to the bridge, and more mass means less of the string vibration is being absorbed into the movement of the bridge.

Oh yeah....and Eddie DOES use these.

Who gives a shit about what Eddie plays? He also used this:

Obviously, it's a matter of "whatever works for YOU", not whatever-works-for-Eddie-is-what-you-should-buy. I've heard Trey Azagthoth's rig is about impossible for the average joe to play on and get a good sound out of, but it seems to work fine for him. I've played a few Peavey EVH guitars and thought they sucked, as well as others: I'm sure there are other people here who can agree with this. One of my main guitars is a JS100, and everyone gets all excited because I have a Satch yet I bought it because everything else at the store I tried out didn't feel good, and I've still replaced the bridge and pickups on it to get it closer to what I like. It's all about personal preference...

Who gives a shit about what Eddie plays?

I only mentioned it because it was stated earlier that "Eddie didn't need one so why would anyone?"

And I know that everything boils down to personal preference with guitars - but what does that have to do with my recommending a larger sustain block for a Floyd? I'm not trying to get into a debate about a Floyd being better or worse than anything else, etc.

I was very impressed with what I got out of this 30 dollar piece of brass. If any of you would rather assume that I don't know what I'm talking about and that this thing is indeed, "pointless", it doesn't make any difference to me. I was just sharing my experience.

And I thank you very much for sharing this!
I'm really curious about those stuff, I'll contact them about shipping to Europe

Yes, thanks for sharing MH28. I don't know if I would ever need to buy one but at least I know of its existence now just in case. Its in the back of my (open) mind.
And I care about anything and everything EVH related.

Did you install it yourself, and if so how much hassle was it?

Sure, I installed it myself. Not much of a hassle at all. Do it when you're planning to replace the strings anyway and it will feel like even less of a hassle. Just take off the springs, pull out the bridge, remove the four inner most saddles which expose the three mounting screws, pull off the old one and screw on the new one.
You need to replace the saddles in the exact same position to keep your intonation in check, so all I did was stick a small piece of electrical tape on the bridge to mark their positions before I removed them.
