Food near the Grenada?

I believe he meant a 30 MINUTE WALK. I can attest to the fact that The Vortex has the best hamburgers! Even rivaling Chicago! We went right to the vortex after landing in Atlanta last year and dropping off our stuff at the hotel. Me, Ron Rousseau, Lina , Steph, and Boob. Their Fries Rock as well!

We were up at http://www.thehighlanderatlanta.com/ last weekend. As much as I like the Vortex burgers, Highlander burgers seem to be more delicious. Their "Pete's Burger" is a straight up plain cheesburger with all the fixin's but it's really good. All their food is excellent that I've tried. They were featured on some Food Network show recently.

If you like Sushi there is a place in Atlantic Station which is somewhat close to the venue called "Strip" http://www.heretoserverestaurants.com/ We've tried the sushi and it was very good. The fried calamari is the best I've had so far in the city next to Trader Vic's, they drizzle it with a garlic aoili or you can ask for that on the side along with marinnara. It's not real cheap but not that expensive either. We haven't tried their steaks or anything else. I don't know how long the walk to Atlantic station is from Center Stage but it doesn't look too bad.

Last place we've discovered recently is "The Marietta Diner" http://www.mariettadiner.com/ , this also appeared on the Food Network and we had to check it out. The Desserts are awesome in this place. We had the Paella and split it(they charge a $4 split fee, but said the would waive it for us since it was our first time or some shit /shrug). It was very good and we still had enough left to take home and eat the next day. I saw what other people were eating at nearby tables and the portion sizes looked huge.

This place is not near the Granada, shit it's not even near me.. I think it would be about an hour drive from Center Stage, and about 30 minutes from within the Perimeter. It is however open 24 hours 7 days a week, it's worth checking out, especially if you like cakes. However I must admit that last time we were out at 4am in the downtown area wondering about places to eat we settled for a 24 hour Mcdonald's close to home, driving 1 hour or more doesn't seem all that great then. I haven't tried the other diner on Chesirebridge I forget what it's called, but I'm curious if anyone else has tried both and how it compares. I've tried Taco Cabana once and it was some nasty shit, even for mexican food.

Oh yeah almost forgot, Korea House 1960 Day Dr, Duluth, GA - (770) 622-1300 this is supposedly a chain resturaunt from Korea kind of like their version of Chili's. It's open 24 hours and has Korean food including the famous BBQ dishes like Kalbi/Galbi however you spell it. It's not bad but not the greatest Korean I've had for the price but it will do on ocassion, they are kind poor on the variety of offerings for the little side dishes you accustomely get at a Korean resturaunt, but they are open 24 hours supposedly. It's near the Gwinnett Place Mall by a Mcdonald's.

Breakfasts, I don't know if they have em across the Country but we have this place called "Cracker Barrel" http://www.crackerbarrel.com/ here and if you can find one they have really awesome breakfasts, compared to their peers Denny's and IHOP of course.

Cool, I've been there but haven't eaten there recently. My friend (and booth-manager at the RennFaire) Brian is one of their lead cooks, so I'll tell him he's being spoken of highly. :)

Yes, City Cafe locations are combat-equivalent to the Marietta Diner, complete with the vast menu, titanic portions and the truly monstrous desserts. Not sure what the current status of that one on Cheshire Bridge is, though. It closed a while back, but there's something open now in the same location.
BTW, Marietta Diner wouldn't be an hour north of the venue at night...perhaps a half-hour. It would be right up I-75 to (I think) S. Marietta Loop and then west to US 41.

Agreed! Not sure where the closest one to downtown is offhand, though.

We ate at a Cracker Barrel a couple of times during the last PP. We were out near the airport, so I just used the GPS to take us there, and then into the city. I wouldn't consider it close at all. Possible there is one closer, I just went for the one nearest the hotel.

On a funny note, the hostess of the Cracker Barrel for some reason thought I was Kid Rock. I don't look anything like him, so thought it was pretty funny.

I've heard good things about the Vortex. I didn't know it was close. A lot of motorcycle people I know hit the one with the skull, not the midtown one. Sounds like they aren't technically that far apart, couple of miles. I want to try to have lunch there one day.
