so i have my german midterm today and it made me wonder what the best way of practicing/studying you can come up with is...

hummm, I study language in life in general, and the best in my opinion is to make link with language that you're more farmiliar too, like

"Nacht/Nuit/Night" it's almost the same. You need to automatcly make lot of link for only one word without searching in your head.

Well, another thing that you could do without moving is reading a lot of books in german, listening to music or watch films...

yeah, study her tongue.

(This joke works in french, don't know in english :erk:)

Works in spanish too, but that joke sucks in english

Language actually comes from the latin lingua which means language aswell as tounge.

Go with Fetzer's suggestion and movies/books can help, I guess it depends on what you want to learn, text or speech.

Since German and Dutch are pretty close I try to recognize Dutch words in it, maybe it works with English-German aswell. This way I can understand Danish etc. texts a bit aswell :p

I'm doing a technical study (mechanical engineering) and still have to deal with the german crap since germany is a tech-country, so alot of manuals are in German aswell.

read this book :D
