Forgive My Ignorance…..Growl Lovers Wanted

Not sure if it was a joke or not but it could be that DZ is of the opinion that they are not"METAL". "METAL" being much more aggressive or brutal music with darker content.

Although I am sure it was with some jest, there are those that have this preconceived notion that METAL is a way of life and to be METAL it must be the heaviest and darkest music out there with a equally dark and brutal image to match. I am no saying that this is this persons feeling on the matter.

Sorry, i really thought it was obvious that it was a complete joke. My apologies

The point was that to me, Priest and Maiden are the stuff of metal along with Dio, Rainbow, Sabbath, Accept... you get the point. I used to be HUGE into death and black metal, but there's a point where the art of being more br00tal than thou or so kvlt you shit darkness and piss ice spears just gets old. The music has its moments and there are some mad interesting bands out there, but i'm over the whole brutality aspect. It's not interesting anymore.

I'd rather go back to metal's roots, and that's what i've been doing. If i listen to death metal these days, it's pretty much guarenteed to be old school Morbid Angel, old Obituary, Death, or something that sounds fresh despite being a decade or two old.

So again... apologies for the confusion haha. DIO!!!! :headbang:

edit: though fates said "there are those that have this preconceived notion that METAL is a way of life and to be METAL it must be the heaviest and darkest music out there with a equally dark and brutal image to match." To me, metal IS a way of life, but it's more patch denim vests and leather than spikes and satan. Again, just go back to the roots and that's metal.

No need to apologize. And I suppose that METAL is a way of life for some and I am sure it varies in degrees as to what some would expect a METAL life to be. It’s all good, that’s what makes the world go round.

Absolutely. I know my post went off in a different direction of your point, and you're absolutely right... that's why there are so many boring ass "brutal" death metal bands. But in my case, i expect no one to understand or accept that music = life for me (specifically the metal genre) and i think that's what it comes down to: understanding people have different shit going on and learning to co-exist with those differences.

Wish I knew how to photoshop so I can put one of those stupid Suicidal Tendencies hats with that huge upwards brim on Halford. I'm sure he'd also sport a wife beater, mad tats, baggy pants, and Xs on his hands.
