Dan you fucking need to chill man, I'm sad to say this cause I like you and all but I think you're having a somewhat aggressive immature attitude lately. Quite a few of you guys do actually, this is none of your business, it's between John and him and whatever you guys answered should have been helpful to John instead of just bashing Gareth pointlessly (i.e. being cunts without helping anybody in any way). He will pay him back when he's got money, end of the line.

Sucks that he's not paying back for now, but he's in very busy times and will do it eventually. As much as I am sure he will, I gotta be honest, Gareth is not one I would lend money too, but that's not really the point anymore, is it? Anyway, I really hope you get payed the soonest possible, good luck with that!

This isn't another guy who opened a thread without using the search, this is real, as in a crime, John is in all the right to apply the law to him, being in the same country makes it even easier to do so, I'm pretty sure in his situation I wouldn't either, but I wouldn't judge if he did. And it affects all of us because many of us buy and sell stuff through here and have done it for a while with great success (if you go to the feedback thread you can see a comment I recently made about the love in the GFS section) and to have a longtime member do this to another longtimer is really sad. You say he's in "busy times"? You really think that's an excuse? That's an excuse to miss your world of Warcraft meeting, not to take someone's money and never deliver what he paid for. And nobody "lent" him money, that would be a totally different situation. Because of those comments you made I make my two conclusions posted above, and even if he's going through some sort of family tragedy or something similar, making the small effort to communicate it would lead to understanding on John's behalf and this whole thing would be dealt with privately instead of publicly.

I don't think I've been aggressive, but I guess accepting it is the first step innit? I came to this thread simply stating how much this sucks, then saw people justifying his actions. And remember it's hard to grasp "tone of voice" in written text, I write this with no Ill feelings towards you.

A fellow forumite was ripped off. No matter which way you turn the pieces, it's not OK. I'd report his ass to the authorities. 5 months is enough for anyone to scrape up the money.

Just to clarify, there has been contact on and off, this is not a case of me giving him money and him instantly falling off the face of the earth.

I always want to back up what Dan said about the forum, it's important that these deals work out as the whole selling/trading malarkey here works on trust.

There is clearly some serious stuff happening in Gareth's life at the moment, or at least it seems very serious to him from whatever mental state he's currently in (not necessarily drugs).

Basically, I don't know what to do. It's only £130 and I'm not sure the hassle of court is worth it although I really have no clue about the realities of that sort of action. I also would feel like a bit of dick about it, although that's pretty stupid.

I could go to his house and just take the cab, but the cost of travel would be at least half the value of the cab.

Yeah mate I love you too <3. Yeah there's been some really shitty stuff going on in his family for quite a while actually, not really going to explain 'cause that's not really the point nor is it anybody here's business, but yeah I totally get your point. I've got absolutely no problem with John applying the law and all, it's just all that pointless bitching and anger and that this whole "community" applies won't lead to anything.

All in all he should be easier to get in touch with anytime now, he's just moved to another place so he hasn't got Internet installed yet.
