Frontiers

Oh. I was told that he was. If you'll excuse me, I have to go kill the person who told me that John Myung was a member of L.T.E.

I can send it to you, just tell me how.

wchuck = AWESOME!!!!!! You are the man!!

aND Leopnd's thing just sounds like regular tapping to me. If it is a Chapman Stick, that'd be kwazy, but for one reason or another, i doubt it.

I got banned form this forum for a week asking if someone could hook me up with an mp3 of this song since I purchased the US version.

I think its only fair all these people serve a similar fate as I did.

I think you should just get banned for another week...

IDEA: all these Japanese bonuses and shit, why don't they take all the Japenese Specials, and special edition songs EX: Masquerade/Frontiers... And put them on an album and sell it as a single or something

I already own two copies of The Odyssey. Why should I have to buy THREE COPIES just so I can have all the songs? (I accidently bought the standard release w/o realizing the special edition existed. OOPS!)

I think releasing a bunch of unreleased stuff plus Frontiers would be a great between-album distraction.

I agree. But I'm guessing that's what the fanclub CD will evolve into, as it did somewhat address what you are talking about this year. I would be all for SX releasing rare stuff, but I can think of at least one major thing they should focus on releasing before any of that, and it's not the new CD.

GRRR!!!!! Please read the thread before posting!!!

CDs are more expensive in Japan
+ it is cheaper for Japanese people to import CDs
+ labels in Japan want to keep sales up for domestic CDs
+ bonus tracks are an incentive to buy that album

= putting bonus tracks on Japanese CDs only, increases domestic sales

It is not about you. Symphony X, Inside Out and pretty much everything else does not revolve around you. Why should you NOT have to buy THREE COPIES just so you can have all the tracks?

If you want to argue anything then you should be arguing that you were silly for not buying the Japanese release in the first place...

I'm with you on this one. If I recall, this forum got shut down at one point because people abused it and disregarded the rules. Let's not have that happen again please, I need something to do while I'm avoiding doing work for my statics class.

So did the question ever get answered if it's a Chapman Stick or not?
Damn this song is awesome, but I agree with what someone said earlier, it doesn't fit the odyssey.

I am pretty sure its no Chapman stick. But I disagree that it doesnt fit The Odyssey. I think it does. I've debated this with Progbass in the past but I still think it fits great. Perhaps not the lyrics, but the overall feel. Also, I think the production aspects make it sound fitting to me, as both V and The Odyssey sound completely different production-wise than all the previous albums. I guess if you think it doesnt fit The Odyssey, then can someone tell me where it DOES fit?

Also, I love that a thread can exist and thrive on a song that to my knowledge has never been performed live. Not trying to be sarcastic in any way either. I guess this is all we've got until the new album comes out... Any info on it ever being played live anywhere, I'd love to know???

Well maybe it SHOULD be played live, preferably in New York City, where I can go see them play it on the best night of my life!!!!

It is not a chapman stick. It's just tapped bass.
Wont touch the fit vs not fit. It was a left over, a semi-finished idea if you will, plain and simple.
It has never been played live.

I'm strongly against piracy. I just believe that the people who bought The Odyssey, and most-likely, every other SymX release, deserve to have that song one way or another.

I agree very stongly with Gentlemen of the Snow. (Even if Proulxski says that he is a total loser.) I should be allowed to have the song just as much as anybody else. I even offered to send the extra money to Jax, which shows that I'm still willing to pay the money.

I would quote my earlier post, but you won't get it.

No one "deserves" to hear a track, and if you keep insisting you have some sort of right to hear a track then you are sorely mistaken.

You pay for an album if you want to hear it. That doesn't give you a right to the bonus tracks, because you didn't pay for them. ESPECIALLY given the reason why the bonus tracks are on the Japanese editions of the CDs only, which I have spelled out at least twice.

Unforunately Jax isn't Inside Out or Victor Entertainment, who likely have control over distribution of Symphony X's music including bonus tracks.

I'm having 2 sides of my brain screaming at me to say different things. The dick side of me and the good hearted Watcher in my soul. This is what they're saying:

-The Dick side: Are you just being pissy because you don't have the song?

-The Watcher side: What ever. I dont intend to hurt anybody because I have a song on my iTunes that I "shouldn't" have.

I don't want to start a fight or anything, because that's not how I like to roll. I just want to say that songs are meant to be heard, and if it's heard, it fulfills its purpose, unless it was written for the sole purpose of pissing people off. I don't think that Symphony X would be the kind of guys to write a song just so they can say "Hey, look at me America. I'm letting Japan hear this, and ot you. Are you gonna cry?"

In actual fact, I own three copies of the Odyssey. I am not rich. I saved up and bought them as I realised the existence of each.

I don't care if you dowload the track. I really don't. Just stop talking about downloading it here - it's in the forum rules.

In addition you have completely missed the point. I'm not saying Americans (or others in the West) aren't allowed to hear it. I'm saying if they do want to hear it, then they have to buy the Japanese edition which is the only one to feature the bonus track for reasons stated above. I'm not being bitter because I have forked money out for it. Again I don't care, just stop claiming some sort of right to hear a track - there is no magical Symphony X bill of rights where it states that because you are an uber fan it's alright for you to breach copyright laws.

You have three options:
Download it and shut up
Buy it and shut up.
Keep talking about it and risk getting banned (forum rules, point two)

He may have to buy it to literally have the "right" to hear it, but he shouldn't be "forced" into buying the other songs that he already has.

Don't think that we don't understand your point, because we do (and you are correct). I'm not even sure if Symphony X would be pleased in hearing that you had to buy three copies. Sure, they could be flattered, but who wants their fans to have to go through that? By your logic, you're pretty much paying $30 for one song. To solve this, as others have said, they should make a bonus CD with all extras. Therefore, we can pay for what we want, and only what we want.
