Lost In Necropolis
I was installing windows on my new computer... wasn't paying attention and forgot I had my extra hard drives attached already.

Long story short, I just deleted about a terrabyte of movies and music.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

Man, its gonna be like 3 weeks of ripping albums alone just to get what I had ripped back into a library...

Not to mention the shit that I can't get now.

Son of a fucking WHORE.

Anything that remained is corrupt as hell... already checked before I started crying.

Man... I just started thinking about my bootlegs. I lost my bootlegs!

:'(

you want pain? last summer I read and RATED over five hundred Batman related comics. i even did this huge stretch of every issue of detective comics and batman from about 1976, to about 1995. in addition, 80 gigs of music and obviously my whole comic collection were on this hard drive (also a bunch of tv shows and my folders with whatever personal affects)

this was my go-to hard drive. my main badboy. the guy bringing sexy back.

i let a buddy use it for a night, get the external back, and it's not even recognized. NOT EVEN RECOGNIZED. corrupt beyond all hope, according to futureshop.

Ah yes. The same thing happened to me back about 2 years ago.

Just build back. Gives you something to do. Kind of like building a house in the same spot after a tornado tore the first one down.

DONT PUT ANY DATA ON THE DRIVE THAT HAD THE LOST DATA ON IT, I accidentally deleted my secondary partition with all my data one time when reinstalling windows on the primary... I used a program called On Track Easy Recover to rebuild the partition and the file table... it recovered ALL of my data. But if start to copy new shit to that drive, consider your old shit to be lost for fucking ever.

I needed to pirate the program. But I'll find a link to it real quick.

I'll look into it...

Still haven't touched the drives other then a bit of snooping on one, so no new data has been made (except for possibly that one).

If I can recover most of it, that'd be nice. :P

not anywhere near the scale of your problem but today i left bit torrent stuff on when i went to school and when i came back it had crashed and i lost all my torrents and progress and now i'm going to have to relook for all of them, ugh.

My Firefox crashed on me a day or two ago, lost all my bookmarks. When I say all, I mean over a hundred easily. at least half of 'em for work related stuff.

There are some great data-recovery Linux-based LiveCDs around, if you haven't tried those I've gotten a couple of them (can't recall which) to recover data after a disk label reset and partial format. If anything works, one or two of those might.

So yeah... after a good many hours of fucking with the new puter, discovered that the memory, that had just been sent as a replacement for the wrong memory sent earlier this week, is FUBAR. Memtest revealed to me that the memory was most likely unaware of its existence as memory... It knew NOTHING.

Now I gotta ship it out to Corsair this time, on my own expense, to get some replacements.

More fucking money loss... I'll be in debt soon, haha.
