Davos Seaworth, Maester Cressen, Stannis, and Melisandre have been cast. You can see pictures here:

Also, for those interested in a bit more information, 'Tower of the Hand' is really good about spoilers; they always alert you before opening a thread as to whether it contains spoilers. So it's a good site for someone who hasn't finished reading/watching.

Finished book 1 as well as the first season recently. Man, Joffrey, what a little shit. Can't wait to see what happens to him going further.

Also, more night's watch and less dragon bitch please. Yeah the actress is hot, but nothing about the character is that exciting. I hope she doesn't become some silly 'dragon queen' now.

Dany and Arya have both completely ceased to be interesting imo by ADWD. I wish they had already been killed off a book or two ago.

Finished ADWD yesterday.General impression: :erk:

I have an only slightly better reaction. There were some big punches, which I always enjoy; but at this point in the series, I feel like we need more forward motion and not so much frustrating stagnancy and even back-pedaling.

I think George is taking his sweet time moving the chess pieces into place, and I can only hope that the finale in the last book tastes like sweet revenge. The only problem is: he's losing all his chess pieces!

Dany and Arya have both completely ceased to be interesting imo by ADWD. I wish they had already been killed off a book or two ago.

It's really too bad. Arya was hardly in the fifth book at all, and for what? And I really love (or loved) her character.

Dany, at least, plays a largely significant role. However, it's unfortunate that her chapters are so "meh" next to others, since hers is clearly the most important narrative in the fifth book.

So is the general consensus that Game of Thrones is the best book in the series, and that every book after that just gets worse and worse in quality? I read the first book and thoroughly enjoyed it, and will commence reading the rest of the series in about a week. After re-reading this thread, I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm in for a major disappointment.

The third book (A Storm of Swords) is the best, in my opinion.

The first one is great; the second is still pretty damn good; the third one blows everything else out of the water; the fourth is pretty dull; the fifth one picks up a bit, but unfortunately not a whole lot happens (some surprises toward the end though).

I have never been able to get into this book series at all. I've watched some of the episodes and end up watching one or two before getting bored by it.

Is there a certain point in the book series where it's supposed to hook you?

To answer you're question: If the first book doesn't "hook you", it's not going to at a later point.

And why would I get in a bunker? That's frenchie talk.
