this mission was a little different, as we were set upon by a rather more aggressive band of snakemen, five in total. none of them stayed in the ship, and one of them made a direct beeline for us, sniping jimmy... dead... dead as soon as he peeked out from behind the wheels of our craft.

we also lost blurry dreams after he took the high ground and left himself even more exposed than that time he got a footjob in a homeless shelter. a regrettable loss, as he'd made three kills over his first two missions, a feat matched only by hamburgerboy thusfar. RIP.

this was a more professional mission than the previous, as we kept our distance and didn't allow the snakemen many clear shots, methodically dispatching them one by one. notorious dreamteam hbb and omni got the bulk of the kills here, two apiece, but tech managed to get himself promoted to squaddie despite not getting any kills, probably because he looks like a hard motherfucker:

I'm glad I'm the sniper had I made a character I would have chosen the same. Keep in cover mini carpie! Camping is for survivors!
 
we shot down another craft over russia, but this time all the aliens died in the crash. even so, hamburgerboy has been promoted again to captain. baroque is now a sergeant.

oh and we have two new recruits: krigloch the slow, and espada the weak

shot down another craft over northern japan, and in investigating we encountered our first and only sectoid thusfar. fortunately new recruit @Krigloch the Furious sniped him with a single snapshot before he could probe any of our anuses, and the mission was complete. he's been promoted to squaddie for his efforts, while tech is now a sergeant. here's the full soldier list at it stands:

this time we took down a ship over the middle east, which means no more forest terrain for us. this mission took place in desert, with no trees to provide cover aside from the occasional cactus. this proved a little problematic, as much like our very first mission this UFO contained seven survivors, all of them snakemen with a shoot first and ask questions later approach.

these snakemen were fairly conservative in the main, although there was one stood right in front of the ship's door as we disembarked, taking out @Burkhard before we could react. there were further casualties, as will be detailed below, but eventually we cornered three aliens in the ship and patiently picked them off. the final extraterrestrial was some kind of invincible predator motherfucker, standing in the middle of his ship facing the door and continuing to fire back even after taking multiple rifle shots. @TechnicalBarbarity eventually grew impatient, walking up to the door and firing a rocket into the hull, an effective strategy albeit one which probably destroyed some precious loot.

the others to fall were @Anom@nder Rake, who finally got a kill on his fifth mission before tragically taking a stray bullet intended for @arg, and the newly promoted sergeant @Baroque. rest in peace, brave soldiers. arg, meanwhile, was the most effective here with two kills; wainds, oz, krig and tech got the others. arg, wainds and carpe are promoted to squaddie.
