anyone using emule here? I was wondering if I should bother with it, since I have 56k and I heard you have to be online for long periods of time in order to be allowed to download stuff.
forget about it on 56k. stick to kazaa or dc++

Bit Torrent is the absolute god of file sharing protocols.

Other news: Firefox 0.9 is out. If you use IE, I expect you to get it within 24 hours kthx. Opera uses are fine.

0.9 has got quite a few added features, and the usual bug fixes and stuff. For the time it takes to download, it's worth it.

In about an hour I get to play the crap that is Doom 3,
I can hardly contain myself. I bet it will be as innovative
as a hooker in Las Vegas.

Right, can any of you geeks tell me if it's normal for a 56k modem to act like mine does? ;)
Sometimes, and it's happening more often now than before I think, it just freezes. It remains connected, but when you click a link or something, nothing happens. You can wait 2 minutes and it remains connected but nothing whatsoever happens. Then, when I try to disconnect it, it doesn't obey and I have to switch the modem off to get it to disconnect. This usually happens if I remain idle for, say, 3-5 minutes. And it's thoroughly annoying.

Well that happens (in the sense of fucking up devoid of logic) with cable and ADSL too so I suppose it is "normal"...

Who am I kidding? Just upgrade from 56k already, you lower lifeform.
