My favorite MDB albums are Turn Loose The Swans and Songs Of Darkness, Words Of Light, which is a fucking beautiful album. The last track "A Doomed Lover" has to be the doomiest, most powerful song I ever heard!
And actually, 34.788% I haven't heard yet, although I read the lyrics to that album and from what I gathered, it was quite disturbing. Not like how My Dying Bride usually write at all. It's awesome you like My Dying Bride though, I think I'll start a thread about them, lol :Spam:

Right on! Those are my faves as well  And I have to agree with you, "A Doomed Lover" is an amazing track! But how bout The Blue Lotus. The first minute and a half of that song actually kind of scare me :hypno:

Yeah, it has this totally demented kinda... dark rumble to it. It's awesome, and I think Aarons clean vocals on it are the best he's ever done. In fact, that is Songs Of Darkness' biggest advantage over other MDB albums, Aarons voice sounds much stronger and more confident. i hope they record some new material soon.

I'm a bit late on this thread. I'd take GR. I'm not huge on SL, and I've explained why before. GoP, TBOTH, and HF are better than any SL song.

Songs of Darkness, Words of Light is really a well done album. Among the best production jobs I've ever heard. Good stuff. I enjoy all of MDB's stuff, especially from Turn Loose the Swans onward. Their death metal stuff didn't do it for me. I've got the new DVD, but haven't watched it all the way through yet. Not as good as Opeth's or Emperor's.

Simply stated, SL does not have a single weak track. Every one is amazing in its own right, but none of them stand out as being the BEST track on the album.

GHL is quite obviously the single greatest Opeth track ever written and I think it stands out for sure as the best on SL.

That's your opinion. For every guy who echos your thoughts I can find at least 2 who say the same about The Moor.

The album is solid from start to end.

shit this is tough.
Still Life is brilliant but so is GR. and right now, GR is my fav. JUST.

I'd say Gr is better than Blackwater Park.
but it's all brilliant.

EDIT: so I read up the page abit and I'd like to say that IMO there are no weak tracks on Ghost Reveries. I have spoken, now let me be flamed.

IMO there are no weak tracks on Ghost Reveries

Beneath the Mire is weak.

Atonement is very weak.

The Grand Conjuration is super-ultra-mega weak.

By the time I get to Isolation Years I'm gnawing on my wrists.

Face it - after the first two songs, the only high point is Harlequin Forest.

Individually, the songs are quite nice - I like many of them. As an album, especially one with a theme, it is mediocre when compared to Still Life.
