Gigantour 2 --- guess we know who will be there now

Look at Strato. Their drummer obviously must appreciate SAXON right (having played on LIONHEART) Do you want the next Strato album to have a SAXON sounding song? Of course not........

Why not? You're starting to sound closed-minded.

Give me a break! Now you are being argumentative for no reason.
I love both Saxon and Strato, but for different reasons.

Strato encompasses melodic power metal elements (flower metal to some), and Saxon is more hard edged rocking NWOBHM. Why would I want Strato to write a song that sounds like Saxon?

It's surprising some of the bands being currently signed to Roadrunner as of late. I read a few days ago something about Arch Enemy going to be on Gigantour, which will be taking place in the fall. Even if you don't have an interest in the band, I think they are off to a good start having Mike Amott on board if this is true. Considering that it is a guitar player's festival (rather Ozzfest and SOTU) and taking a look at some of the bands that played last year, Gigantour has ALOT of potential, even if last year's wasn't super successful. I just want to see a shredfest, with none of the filler bands this time around. A true METAL FEST, with none of the pathetic wannabe bandwagon acts (Ozzfest 06). I think Dragonforce are leaning more towards SOTU, but I think they would fit perfectly at Gigantour. Of course, one can dream of an Eidolon/Pagan's Mind scenario, but that's just a pipe dream for me, haha. Let's just hope that Dave Mustaine doesn't dissapoint us. Time shall tell.

Well Arch Enemy said in an interview with MTV that they are on the main stage, so thats one band. Though I really hope that Dragonforce, Opeth, Trivium and Nightwish get on this tour it would be totally sweet. Trivium would be able to do it because Gigantour 2 is going to happen in the early Fall this year.

I doubt Nightwish will be ready to tour in the fall. Besides, that's when they're supposed to be recording the new album (assuming they have a singer by that time).

Don't get me wrong, I like Opeth but they tour frequently enought that I can catch 'em plenty without the Gigantour. I would rather see some other bands.

Yes. Opeth provides ample opportunities to see them live, so Gigantour would be a bad move, I think. Would it really help them that much?

It'd probably help Gigantour more than Opeth. They can pull a crowd on their own pretty well even if they do tour "a lot." I'm fairly certain they've been somewhat confirmed as they postponed the South American leg of their tour which was supposed to happen in the fall.
I will admit Opeth would likely be a band that'd get me to see this show. Dragonforce as well. I guess I would have gone last year but it wasn't worth it to take off time from work. I've already decided that if Dragonforce get confirmed for SOTU, I will attend. I missed them on their recent tour and want to kick myself for not being able to work out going to any of the shows.

But why would they pass up the chance for an excellent North American touring oportunity?

According to Blabbermouth, Mustaine was spotted at Dragonforce's show at The Whiskey in Hollywood, CA. This could mean something... either he is considering it and wanted to see them (perhaps the label suggested) or it is already being negotiated and he wanted to see them live for himself... If this is the case (which I hope so because I think they would do great on this festival)... so help me god, if a hurricane ruins this for me, I curse FL to hell and WILL move out of the state before next hurricane season.

no nightwish please  on second thought it could be a good intermission

mmm.. As a fan of both bands, I would jump out of my roof much faster if Nightwish (who I don't even doubt, but KNOW will not tour this summer nor this fest this time around) got confirmed for Gigantour II, than for Opeth (who at times... can be boring live).

:)

Because they don't have a singer? Maybe they will by then, but Tuomas didn't see to think they'd find one very soon. Maybe not even until the end of the year.

Because they will be recording? He said he had 15 songs roughly written. Maybe they'll have some of the new material ready by the fall, but between that and trying to break in a new singer, it would be unlikely.

I know one thing: they want to make the MOST of any tour in North American, so I'd be surprised if they came over before they were ready.

That makes sense.

How is Gigantour a guitar player's festival? The only above average guitarists at last years were Petrucci, Loomis, Smyth, and Romeo

DRAGONFORCE's name has been removed from the Sounds of the Underground web site as one of the bands that will be performing on select dates of this summer's tour.

DRAGONFORCE are believed to be under consideration for the upcoming Gigantour 2, which is slated to kick off late August. The trek's organizer, Dave Mustaine of MEGADETH, was seen checking the band out at their May 11 concert at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Furthermore, DRAGONFORCE guitarist Herman Li recently told MTV.com that his band were working on securing a spot on an American festival tour — like Sounds of the Underground or Gigantour 2 — so fans who missed them on their recently completed short U.S. run might be able to catch the 'FORCE this summer.

DRAGONFORCE's third album, "Inhuman Rampage", which was issued in Europe four months back, will receive a U.S. release on June 20 via Roadrunner Records.

Let's hope the DragonForce rumors hold true. Gigantour could be an amazing fest if all the rumored bands are included.

Originally VENOM were rumored but they just announced a 7 Date N American tour in August with Devil Driver. WEAK!
