I suspect this one might be a no-brainer for some, but at least it ought to get more votes than the Adramelech poll did. As chosen by RNG, the album we're voting on today is...

Immolation - Close to a World Below
In a perfect world your perfect god is a coward just like you!

Ranked #2 for the year 2000 with 94 points from 14 votes
  1. Higher Coward
  2. Father, You're Not a Father
  3. Furthest From the Truth
  4. Fall From a High Place
  5. Unpardonable Sin
  6. Lost Passion
  7. Put My Hand in the Fire
  8. Close to a World Below
Vote for your favorite track! The poll will stay open for two weeks.

My official autism ranking is as follows:

"Higher Coward - 4/5 (beauty-contrasting-ugliness shimmering)
Fall From A High Place - 4/5 (romantic)
Lost Passion - 4/5
Father, You're Not A Father - 3.5/5 (trends towards heavy grooving with pinch harmonics, insane solo)
Close to a World Below - 3.5/5
Put My Hand In The Fire - 3.5/5
Unpardonable Sin - 3.5/5
Furthest From The Truth - 3.5/5 (also more pinch-harmonic grooving but a little more repetitious)"

But I can never remember any of their songs from memory so I'll give it a listen before voting.

If it wasn’t for the title track, I’d agree with HBB and have Higher Coward as my number 1. Absolutely devastating.

But the title track is one of their best songs. A monolithic, labyrinthine epic and the equivalent of an apocalypse in fire. It perfectly evokes the cover art for me.

This is a fucking great album from start to finish. I will probably vote for Father You’re not a Father, but I’m gonna want to relisten to the album first. I could certainly make the case for Higher Coward and the title track.
