GMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1993

To be completely fair to Phyl, I can't find any negative quotes about that album. I'm sure there are some (probably by me), but they don't show up if you just search 'majesty swamp'. Unless this is good enough:

Varathron - The Tressrising of Nyarlathotep

..and back to terrible. 2/10

i wonder if any of your quotes have been used for MR albums? Can't remember.

No country is better with the quotes anyway. I wouldn't say fair, but definitely not as bad. But i'm pretty sure he doesn't worry about impressing his peers as much as phyl does. I could be wrong though.

i used to use hbb quotes all the time because he's the most vocal critic of half the albums which make these lists lol

i'm sure i've called that varathron album overrated at some point

His Majesty at the Swamp is overrated as fuck and so slow how can it even be called black metal and even though I put it third in my list, I only did it to fit in with the in-crowd.

There you go.

Maybe it just feels a lot different cause Kelly Shaefer wasn't playing guitar on that one. I just felt their first two albums were much more focussed overall.
The shitty production definitely doesn't help things. I'd love to hear it remixed.

I try to include positive and negative comments for all albums that make the lists. But for some albums there’s barely anything besides “X album rocks”.

Both Elements and Individual Thought Patterns are divisive albums, so it’s no surprise there is not only more discussion on those albums, but also a mix of both positive and negative comments.

I was actually expecting to find some negative comments for Covenant but none came up. Best I could do was my own, which is a mixed opinion.

Yeah for some reason I've also found that ITP doesn't seem to get all that much love. I happen to find it to be just about Death's greatest offering.

I don't like ITP much at all, but from what I've seen it seems to have the greatest consensus of appreciation of their tech-era stuff. Wouldn't call it a decisive album.

Do you happen to not be that much of a Death fan HBB? Or is it just the ITP album that never really did it for you?

That's what I've found. Symbolic is almost universally acclaimed whilst ITB is more of a love it or hate it type of album. I just don't get it.
