GMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1998

Q1: When someone posts that an album or band is 'in crowd', do you feel compelled to post about 'in crowd' being a misnomer or that the 'in crowd' doesn't exist?

Y: You're part of the in crowd
N: Go to Question 2

Q2: When someone doesn't like an album that others hail as 'classic', how do you respond?
  1. Lambast the person and tell them they have bad taste
  2. Scroll past
If 1, you're part of the in crowd
If 2, not in the in crowd

fr though @Dak 's description of the in crowd isn't wrong:

Dak said:
In contrast to prior attempts, maybe we should formulate a DSM like way to type the in-crowd.

How to diagnose someone suffering from symptoms consistent with Incrowditis:

Critera:

A. Likes Black Metal without other subgenre qualifiers
B. Mostly prefers first releases and/or S/Ts
C. Mostly dislikes bands with tshirts in Hot-Topic
- specify if US band specific
- or not US band specific
D. Likes a band only liked by persons who meet criteria A-C.
- specify if such bands liked include Manilla Road

Am I forgetting any other very notable qualifiers. Want to try to mostly avoid band specific mentions unless one is egregiously obvious.

sickening that trendhopping incrowd shit like TOOH and trendhopping mainstream shit like nile somehow beat a classic band like manilla road last round

Because Gates of Fire was released after 1987 and Nile actually has good riffs ldo

Heavier on death metal than most years I'm sure, but Nile & The Chasm are too good to pass up. Listen to that fucking Falkenbach album if you haven't before doing your list! Masterpiece!

HM:
Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe (This, Rammstein, & Static-X still catch some spins!)
Spiritual Beggars - Mantra III
System of a Down - System of a Down (Everything since is shit, but a solid debut)
Liquid Tension Experiment - Liquid Tension Experiment

?

Death have 7, Bolt Thrower have 5. Or did you not include subgenres?

Doesn't disprove your point or anything just nitpicking

Amorphis - Elegy being in the top 100 kinda invalidates it for me. (Gorguts - Colored Sands too wtf) People on RYM are a special bunch anyway.

TOOH is in-crowd but that was by far their most acclaimed release. Gates of Fire is a shitty "come back" which ranks, what, maybe #5 at best in the Manilla Road discography?

4 cryptopsy - whisper supremacy
5 nile - amongst the catacombs of nephren-ka
6 exhumed - gore metal
7 arch enemy - stigmata
8 cephalic carnage - conforming to abnormality
9 ritual carnage - the highest law
10 dying fetus - killing on adreniline

Nice SJW logic you have there. If you feel the need to question the validity of the wage gap or rape culture when it's brought up, you're a sexist. Couldn't possibly be any other reason to do so amirite?

Or simply take your own advice and keep your "muh in-crowd" lamentations to yourself until you get home and write them down in your diary, and simply scroll past.

I'll take those responses as 'Yes'
