I'm still hoping I'll get two more people in, so we'll have at least as many voting as we had for '77. After all, this year has more to offer.

I kinda have to. As it stands now, I have fewer than ten albums with more than ten points, and I'm not too keen on featuring albums on the overall top ten that received a #1 vote from just one person.

Also, I forgot to tag @Satanstoenail, he participated in this thing at least once in the past.

1. Univers Zéro - Uzed
2. Rush - Grace Under Pressure
3. Cocteau Twins - Treasure
4. King Crimson - Three of a Perfect Pair

I planned on submitting a list but haven’t had time lately for internet vegetating so it doesn’t look likely.

1. Univers Zéro - Uzed
2. Rush - Grace Under Pressure
3. Cocteau Twins - Treasure

6. Skeleton Crew - Learn to Talk
7. Prince and the Revolution - Purple Rain
8. Black Flag - My War
9. Scratch Acid - s/t

That King Crimson album is underrated but I'm a bigger fan of the Adrian Belew era stuff anyway

#10 Univers Zéro - Uzed

Genre(s):
Rock in Opposition, Avant-Prog

Chamber Music

What in the fucking hell is Rock in opposition?
It's not a genre I listen to all that much, but it is definitely interesting stuff. You pretty much listed all the RIO bands I listen to (Thinking Plague, Univers Zero, 5uu's).
tbh I really loved them several years ago but after some point it became too much. Uzed was always my favorite of the ones I've heard but I'll have to listen to it again to know if it's come back for me.

Note: There ended up being a three way tie for 7th place.
#7 King Crimson - Three of a Perfect Pair

Genre(s):
Progressive Rock, Art Rock

Experimental Rock, New Wave, Art Pop

I like something from just about every lineup of King Crimson [...] The 80s era had Discipline and some great tunes from Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair.
three of a perfect pair by king crimson...near impossible in my opinion..requires impeccable control of both hands and a ridiculous amount of left-hand finger speed, not to mention the time signature issues..

#7 Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Couldn't Stand the Weather

Genre(s):
Blues Rock, Electric Texas Blues

Guitar god? Or over-rated hack?

Been getting into him recently...his solos were friggin' awesome. Not much of a songwriter, though. But, overall, I think he really delivered the goods.
Clapton should have died in the helicopter crash instead of Stevie Ray Vaughan.

#6 Christian Death - Catastrophe Ballet

Genre(s):
Deathrock, Gothic Rock

Dark Cabaret

Nobody can beat Christian Death in deathrock.
Just noticed a snag in my plan to edit my okcupid profile according to the gender plot: my most "feminine" music group is Christian Death :lol:
...I do find Christian Death a little grating however. I've only heard the stuff with Rozz but I hear that nothing else worth listening to.

#5 Van Halen - 1984

Genre(s):
Hard Rock

Pop Rock, AOR, Heavy Metal

Like it or not, it was Eddie who kick-started the whole shred guitar thing. He wasn't the first to do anything he was doing, but he was by far and away the most important.

His tone wasn't bad either.
I like old Van Halen. Never listened to anything beyond 1984 and probably never will.
Not the most "metal" band, obviously, but I think almost everyone would agree (concede?) that Eddie Van Halen was a tremendous influence on the genre....
Van Halen's song called 'Panama' is sooooo damn good! The slow part which Eddie Van Halen does is so amazing, I can feel his soul in that part!
:hotjump: :worship:
IMO VH is the greatest hardrock band ever.
I disagree that 1984 -sucked. It was a change...more mainstream but still a kickass-great record.
