Always Somewhere!
So after over 20 years I've finally found the great way to display my guitar picks. I used to keep them in my photo albums, then moved them out and into a glass jar...I wanted to display them and finally figured it out!

Grab a curtain tension spring rod, position it between two walls or in between two areas, add your guitar pick holders, put picks in and wa-laa

Great idea!! ((and nice collection!)) Try as I may, my guitar pick collection is strewn about in random places across my house. I might be able to locate 2 or 3, but never all of them at once. I could definitely use a pick holder! Thanks for the tip!

There is a club in Detroit that has arranged their guitar picks into a huge frame. I assume they must have glued them down, which isn't cool for double-sided picks, but it's another idea that also looks great!

I need to find mine first, which I think I only have 3 caught at shows, Kiko and Rafael from Angra, and the ex-bassist from evergrey, and have drumsticks from Macaluso(from his Ark performance at progpower, damned thing nailed me in the face), and one from Mike of Mercenary.

...that sounds cool....i have been trying to find a way to display all the ones i have, plus the drum sticks and misc thingies...though, i want mine in a frame but haven't found the perfect one yet....i also have a bazillion concert shirts that i thought about making into a quilt, but i was told by my quilter friend, cindy, that it would not work....ugh...........

really... pm MLOANA... she said her friend did a quilt using old tees if I remember correctly.

I'm working on the drumstick display.. I have like 5 and this thread in the Maiden forum has people asking about displaying stix....any suggestions anyone?

I'm thinking maybe that green stuff in fake plants get a square of that, color it up metal style and poke em in.... eh we'll see.

I'm not sure I understand the whole furor around guitar picks. I have 4... I've caught picks from Dave Mustaine, Kai Hansen, Craig Goldy, and Jon Schaffer handed one of the extra-chunky picks uses to me from the stage way back in 1998. Which I did appreciate, but eventually, I couldn't help but think, what am I getting out of having a bunch of picks? They're typically not unique enough as mementos to serve much purpose... I could presumably go to a store and buy 12 dozen picks that are no different from the ones I got from concerts. I think I came to this realization when I was watching Angel Dust one time, and I caught some plastic prop handcuffs that Dirk Thurisch threw into the audience after wearing for the first couple songs, and I was like "What the hell am I going to do with these?" :)

I haven't gotten any picks in the last few years anyway though, because for one, I go to less concerts than I used to, and secondly, I've come to the realization that being right up at the stage doesn't actually provide me the best view or sound, so I usually stand halfway back in the floor area these days... and picks just don't fly that far, heh. I have gotten drumsticks come sailing my way a few times recently, but I just move out of the way and let people who care about them dive to the floor and jump all over each other. :heh:

well summet, we each have our things that we like to collect and enjoy. My fascination started in the early 80's when I got my first set of backstage passes to Black Sabbath, got to ride with the band to the Rainbow bar and grill after the show, got some great pictures, a guitar pick, and other mementos. Since then I put everything into photo albums and it's nice to go back through the years and see how lucky I've been to see all those shows.

I have an extra room in the house that is deemed my Rock Room and all my memorabilia goes in there. It's my thing and I luv it!

I don't have allll that many picks and, like Tammy, mine are strewn all around. For a while I was putting 'em in a photo album, but all the newer ones are free-roaming.

Sumeet, many guitar picks are collectible because they are the player's signature picks, made expressly by the company for that guitarist or bassist, with his/her name, band, and/or logo on them. So, no, you can't go to a store and just buy them.

I throw my picks, and ticket stubs in the front of the corresponding cd for the tour. That includes my Gold and VIP badges from PP. If it's not a cd supporting tour then they go into the newest cd.

And Kristie, that floral foam comes in white. Or it's something very close to floral foam...

Balsa Foam is awesome! You can carve away at it to shape it and you can paint it. In high school, my art class made little figurines from balsa foam and it was a blast! I bet it would work great for a drumstick holder - and you can make it any shape you want! :) I envision a laughing skull with a drumstick mohawk  \m/ I think you can get balsa foam at any craft store.

ooohh sweet idea, skull mohawk drumstix holder...must put some ink on the skull too!!:rock: not much of an artist, ie; carving but I'm sure it's inexpensive enough to try a few things. Thanks for the replies!

p.s. miss you Kel!!

I miss you too girl!!

Still so bummed about this year, and you guys not coming. :waah:

Mat is moving here Tuesday...one way ticket from Long Island to New Mexico....And I think Crew is either going to fly here a few days before PP and go with me, or fly back here with me after and hang. He'll be missing his BFF.

We need to plan a meet up here with you, Pabla and Crew in the very near future. Can you see us...? :zombie::hypno:

The ideas I've seen for displaying picks/drumsticks are great, and I'll keep them in mind once I've got enough to actually display. The only drumsticks I have are from two local bands, but as for picks, I've got a few. Caught one from Blasko [Rob Zombie/Ozzy's bassist] at Ozzfest last year...Johan Soderberg has handed me a pick after their set at the last two Amon Amarth shows I've seen...ChthoniC's bassist and guitarist...Yeah, I think that's it.
