Guilty Pleasures

For past stuff I really like Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, and George Michael.

For current artists, would anyone be surprised if I said I like Asian pop? I mean really? At this point, isn't it a given?
I like Nami Tamaki, Super Junior, KAT-TUN, Rain, and NEWS.
For particular songs, I like the one below in the video and "Don't Don" from Super Junior.

What pop (current or past) songs do you just love?

I've got two:
Live - Lightning Crashes
Radiohead - Creep

Probably more, but those are thet two I'm thinking of now.

Seriously, those are "guilty pleasures"?

Live was put out 4 absolutely amazing albums before they tanked with "V". I still listen to Mental Jewelry, Throwing Copper, Secret Samadhi, and The Distance to Here regularly. :)

Also, Creep is a fun song. A guilty pleasure is me still loving Ace of Base. (THERE, I SAID IT.)

I've always loved Live as well, one of the best Best of cds out there, with only a few songs I don't care for on it. All over me, lakini's juice, freaks, lightning crashes, dolphin's cry, and so on. Creep is the only song from Radiohead I like. I also enjoy a few songs from Weezer, from their first couple cds, say it ain't so, and a couple other songs.

There's a few from way back:
Cris DeBurg- Don't Pay The Ferryman
Janet Jackson- Black Cat
Micheal Jackson- Dirty Diana
Duran Duran- Hungry Like the Wolf
The Hooters- All You Zombies

I'm not sure I'd call Live 'pop' though. Definately the best of the Grunge era rock bands.

Well they sure got a lot of radio play around here. Add to that that you can talk to just about anybody between 25 and 35 and they will have heard of that band. IMO, that makes them pop regardless of the genre they play.

Gin Blossoms are really nice guys and a class act. I got to meet and hang with them a few years back, and they didn't have any roadies at all and did everything themselves, as well as the cherry poppin daddies, another class act and really cool guys.

by all means, banish me for these (hell, my pop friends are weirded out by one of these)
but i really like some Miley Cyrus, Duffy and Katy Perry

yeah, it's true...

let the shunning begin

Live puts on one the the best live performances out there. Of the 500-700 concerts I can remember attending, I'd say maybe 10 bands can rival them on stage. Alt? Grunge? Pop? I've seen them maybe 6-7 times now and they put on straight up rock shows. For those who've never bothered to check them out beyond Throwing Copper I'd recommend doing so.

Thanks for mentioning the Gin Blossoms, The Q. I was just listening to them in the car and I love 'em.

Well..you're entitled to your opinion, but I think you're wrong, unless you define "pop" as popular, and not a specific sound. Live was definitely a Rock/Alternative band, and while they got airplay, I would say that the more popular form of music around the time of their crest was far and away R&B.

Well here's a mix of artists (because I like too many songs to list) or specific songs....

Gary Numan
Most are probably just familiar with "Cars" but he has an extensive catalog of great music, especially the really old stuff.

Devo
I liked this band even before "Whip It" came out; they have a very good back catalog as well. Goofy, yes perhaps, but very innovative.

Berlin - "The Metro"
I still love this song in spite of its video's attempts to make me hate it!

Tony Carey - "Fine Fine Day"
Oddly enough I couldn't stand this song when it first came out but over the years it really grew on me and I think it's a great old song now.

Orion The Hunter - "So You Ran"
Nice song, great chorus.

Duran Duran
The self-titled album as well as the "Rio" album are full of catchy songs.

Toronto - "Your Daddy Don't Know"
Am I the only one that remembers this song? And am I the only one that liked it?

Don't you think everybody but you is wrong all the time?
