Bret Michael's grandparents lived not far from where I was living in the 80s. I was friends with people who knew the grandparents and managed to snag some Poison stuff from them. So that's about the only reason why I had an interest in them. Well, it also helped that MTV had their videos on high rotation at the time :lol:

The first time I heard anything about Poison was an advertisement in one of those metal magazines like Hit Parader or Circus. My first thought was, "hey, cool...an all girls metal band!" Oops. :lol:

I never really got into Poison's music, but I do admire Bret for being so candid about living with diabetes. I'm sure he has inspired others (particularly kids) to take the proper steps to manage the condition and take care of their health.
