So guys

just wondering what everyones preference on guitar eq is, ive noticed a lot of people using the waves R'EQ on guitars, how about the SSL channel? has anybody tried that and noticed any difference?

or do people just use there built in ones?

cubase 5 stock EQ or softube EQ pack.
stock EQ for surgical cuts and softube EQ's
for "shaping" the tone a little bit.

cheers
S.

Just use whatever you've got. The biggest difference in most plug in eq's if the GUI tbh. Imo what eq you use certainly isn't going to make or break your guitar tone.

I like a guitar EQ to be transparent. I want total control over my frequencies and nothing else. I get good results from ReaEQ for guitars.

in the very rare case of boosting guitar frequencies i like to employ a character plugin, softube trident a-range for example.
for cuts, i like transparent ones. i prefer DMG's EQuality for this.

ReaEQ, great for surgical cuts and just cutting overall and I like the hi/lo-pass filters in it. I rarely ever boost anything on guitars, except a little bit around 8khz if the cab is very dark sounding. BootEQ mkII works great, just dial in the frequency and boost until it sounds good, would work with any graphical EQ too but I don't like dialing in Q values.

I use cubase stock EQ, and I wish I could use ReaEQ but every time i load them on cubase they freeze my session :(

sonnox eq for surgical cuts.
Used to love the uad 1073 for boost, but also like the ssl channel for broad shaping.

for cuts, it doesn't matter much for me.
I will usually reach for my Sonalksis EQ as it's my favourite.

for boosts (if I even need that) I go for Softtube's Trident-A-Range

how come nobody from the Reaper clan ever mentions ReaFir? just curious... i love ReaFir and think it's so much easier to work with, especially the larger GUI and the fact you see your frequencies.

PT Stock 7-Band EQ is still my favourite for basically everything.

I use SSL EQ to aid in all my high passing and the small amount of times I choose to boost a frequency.

Used to use Q10 but I found it was more rigid than the PT Digirack Stock.

im using logics linear phase for some stuff, urs channel strip and eq plugs for general stuff and sometimes psp's eq range for other stuff. also use mh channel strips eq quite bit (mostly for drums)

the psp and urs stuff works on some stuff well, sometimes not so well just depends on the mix for me.
