For me the ReaEQ is much easier than Reafir, You just set the gain, set the Q and the with one slider sweep across until you find those annoying frequencies.
I'm sure it all boils down to what sounds good and what your comfortable using.

I'm using stock Cubase 5 EQ for hi and low passing, then Waves Q and SSl Channel for that slight 3db boost at 8K for guitars
