Guitarists - Which is the most challenging acoustic Opeth song?

Harvest is easy, we all know that, but "Benighted" seems pretty tough (especially to play and sing).


What are your thoughts?

benighted isn't too bad once you work on your fingerpicking a bit

I've never actually tried playing it, but the acoustic bit that starts at about 8:28 of The Moor sounds pretty hard to play.

i've tabbed almost all of them. i should say face of melinda... it's very difficult to distinguish the notes, when mikael sings the first verses... a very jazzy song...

I can play "Benighted." Like Phon said, it just took some time to work on the fingerpicking. I'm wondering if it's the most difficult song.

I'll check out "Face of Melinda."

Yeah, Face of Melinda and Patterns in the Ivy. I find Benighted easy.

patterns in the ivy is easy, i find face of melinda a great song to play...love the whole song...especially the lead up to the great distortion explosion

Patterns is relatively easy, aside from a few hard to reach chords here and there. I never fully attempted Benighted because it seemed hard for me at the time (was playing for about 5 months). Credence is fairly easy.

So I guess it's the 2 Still Life songs that are the most challenging.

Benighted is not very hard... and Patterns is easy.... The toughest one is without doubt Face of Melinda... cuz it's impossible to tell one guitar from the other.

Face Of Melinda is fucking impossible to play.. that song is a technical and emotional work of genius.

Patterns in the ivy was the first opeth song I learned

Face of melinda is hard to play... sounds a bit improvisated

For me it's definitely Face Of Melinda...

First thing I learned was the intro to FOM (which was damn hard at that time).
Then I learned Benighted (which also was pretty hard at that time).
Then I learned most other acoustic Opeth songs (which was pretty easy compared to Benighted).

And then, finally, I was able to get Face Of Melinda down.
So Face Of Melinda is hardest.

The acoustic interludes in songs like Demon of the Fall, Apostle Is My Triump and throughout Morningrise always sound harder to play than the actual acoustic songs.

Sincerely, I don't know what is so hard with Benighted...
I mean, I started to play guitar 4 months ago and I can play it (Benighted) quite well.

um, you're not playing it right if youre not fingerpicking it... its probably easy for you cause you aren't playing all the notes in the song.
