Guitars?

Things were going good until:

On a side note......It's great that SX has a forum moderator who is representing the band in a mature and respectable way by A) bashing their peers and B) doing so in a completely uncalled for and out of context manner.

Bwahahahahahah! I LOVE thin skinned PoS fans.........:waah:

Somewhere on the application to be forum mod, I must have missed the part of having to love EVERY band. I have a legendary dislike of PoS, and I had it BEFORE I was named as a mod here, and I'll have it long after I'm DONE being a mod here. Did it ever occur to you that there might be others in the Sy-X camp that feel the same way? I'll tell you what, based on my previous post, why don't you write a note to Jax asking for my ouster? Hell, better yet, why don't you write the band's management? Make sure you cc me on it, because I could use a good laugh, even more than your post gave me......

they make 7's? since when? my guitars are all 9 or 10 guage.

yeah i dont think you can buy sets of 7s like you can 8s anymore, just have to make your own sets, my dad has a box of about 20 7s in his study because he just bought some in bulk, but personally i find 7s a little too light, cant get a decent tapping sound out of them because they just dont fight, have to bend them half way up the fret board to get a whole-step bend as well, so i find 8s are a bit more reasonable.

what brand of strings does everyone use?

personaly i use dadarrio xl .008-.038, but thats just because they are cheap and light, i tend to replace my strings once a month because my guitar gets 3-8 hours play a day and they lose their sparkle pretty quick, gonna buy some elixir strings from progpower this year as apparently they have some "patented anti-rust technology", smells like BS to me but if i can find a string which keeps its sparkle for that longer than 2 weeks i would be more than happy :D

DR coated strings :)

Personally I use as above, in .010 - .046, or if I can't find them D'Addario's in the same.

Though i have a set of .011 - .049 here that I've used before which were awesome

Which pickups do you use. Considering buying a S model since they have such a nice feel and afterwards replace the pickups.

my S is a Japan made 470S model. It is completely stock, has the V1 hum, S1 single, V2 hum setup. I like it, cause it is light, has decent tone, and looks good. It is a 22 fret model, fixed bridge

here is a picture, with my Line 6 Spider amp, I just fool around, nothing serious, so it works for me

That comment had nothing to do with me liking or not liking PoS. Of course I don't think you have to like every band nor do I expect you to, but you are in a position on this forum where you are, in a way, representing the band. If you can't see the complete lack of professionalism in bashing SX's peers (they're even on the same label) on SX's official forum in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with that band (much less what you think of them), then you've got some work to do before you can do a good job working for any band. The thought of other people in the SX camp disliking PoS (or any other band) has never crossed my mind because it doesn't have to. I am a lot more interested in the music they make (band members, management, or whoever it is you might be referring to) than I am in hearing about how much they like or dislike a certain band. I doubt I would ever hear any of the band members/management speak out like you did anyway because I am sure (or at least I would like to believe) that they realize how unprofessional and disrespctful that would be. If I wanted to be a jerk about this I would have already contacted Jax, the band's management, and insideout to let them know what kind of people are representing their artists. I didn't think any of that was necessary and still don't. I'm done discussing this with you in this thread about guitars, feel free to send me a PM or something if you honestly feel like you still have something more to say to me.

Now, I'd love to continue discussing guitars and I thought that conversation was going just fine.

lol - peers.

peer
–noun
1. a person of the same legal status: a jury of one's peers.
2. a person who is equal to another in abilities, qualifications, age, background, and social status.
3. something of equal worth or quality: a sky-scraper without peer.
4. a nobleman.
5. a member of any of the five degrees of the nobility in Great Britain and Ireland (duke, marquis, earl, viscount, and baron).
6. Archaic. a companion.

I like the S Series also. It has 22 frets, but does 24 frets really matter? I never use the 23rd and 24th frets, but I remember someone saying that there is less room too move on a 22 rather than a 24, is this true?

It's very seldom I use the 23rd and the 24th fret, but the fact is that there is so much more room to move on when you're playing a 24th fret guitar. I love the S series since they're very thin etc. The only have one weakness: 22 frets.

Hey J-Dub but you did sit thru a Pain of Castration oops Salvation set at PP with Alex right??? correct me if i'm wrong :heh:

24 frets. 12 frets = octave. 24 = 12 x 2. it's pretty damn obvious why someone would want 24. complete the octave.

It makes perfect sense in that respect......but guitars with less frets allow the neck pickup to be further away from the bridge and have a warmer/darker tone. It's a shame we can't just have both (2 full octaves and the warmer tone associated with 22/21 frets).

Well, only thing to do is wait for the S24. :waah:

I wouldn't hold your breath too long. Your only hope is if they do end up doing a Herman Li signature model (based on the specs he posted over on jemsite a while back when asked what his ideal signature model would be). Shawn Lane had a 24 fret S-series that was custom made for him.....but to my knowledge that's the only one in existence.

I change brands pretty often, but usually stay with GHS, Ernie Ball, or Markley's. Standard 9-42. I was bullied out of using .008's by a guitar player I worked for. My fixed bridge guitars (electric) had the standard .010 set on them.

Elixer strings - BEST strings I ever put on my acoustics, never tried an elsectric set.... Maybe I should.....
