Guitars?

I think Fender as a whole is an overrated brand. They have some nice axes, like the USA series and the Showmasters, but I'm really not too fond of them. If I ever bought a Fender, I'd probably end up getting the Floyd Rose Fender, just 'cause it's as close to my style as Fender's gotten so far.

They're the only neck-thru Fenders, and they come stock with Seymour Duncans. What's not to love?

True.. I should've been more specific.

I consider anything below $400 to be a cheapie, and my RG-350 DX originally cost me $300, would've been 350 if I wasn't friends with the shop-owners' son who was working at the time. i dropped a Dimarzio X2N and PAF Joe in there, and it plays and sounds amazing.

So I guess it's really more like when you take good cheapo's and make them into gods.

My SA160QM cost me $599AU (probably roughly $400US at the time) and I consider it to be the same kind of thing. All it needs are some quality pickups (I'm looking at a X2N and a set of hot rails or equivalent) and it will be an awesome guitar.

Agreed with Fender too. Nothing against them, but they don't sit with me well.

Yea, but isn't the whole point of owning a strat to have that classic single coil sound? That being said, I do own a strat myself (it was the first "real" guitar I ever owned) that I just use for teaching guitar (because I can't teach in D standard or drop C like my ESPs are tuned), and I have to say they're some of the best "value for buck" instruments I've ever played. Solid as a rock, plus its a nice option to have in the recording studio for clean sounds as opposed to the loud obnoxious EMG81 equipped axes (which are better suited for... loud obnoxious metal tones :))

Also, if you can shred on a strat, you can shred on any electric, they are very unforgiving...

Indeed it is a great sound, but the thing is that most of them aren't nearly as flexible as, say an Ibanez, which alot of them still have that single coil in the middle. Same goes for EMG's as you said, they can only be loud and obnoxious, which is also why I stopped being an EMG fanboi and switched to Dimarzios. I just prefer guitars that are more flexible

Even a crappy Squier knockoff from the 60's that's been whethered, mistreated, played to deth, and treated like crap? :p

Only country players use tele's... And John 5... He can shred on a tele... I reckon if you can shred on a nylon string guitar, then that is the ultimate... No additional sustain, and only fingers, no pick and a wide neck... :notworthy

What about shredding a 12 string nylon string guitar without pick?? haha:rock:

Hell no, if you can shred on this you're truely the master shredder:

I actually want to get a 7-String Nylon. Sure the neck would be bigger than a 6-String Bass neck, but it would add so much more to my writing.
