Yes, this one is for you, Troops. Consider it bait to make you post again.

So.......how aboutHair bands? You like it? Dislike it? why? Who are your favorite bands? SPEAK, PEOPLE!!! :loco:

Yep I quite enjoy it hahaha! Wish it would come back!!!

I watched a video yesterday of Warrant playing Gazarri's on the strip in 1987 a year before their first album and it rocked. I wish bands in clubs would put that much effort into their shows today, it was awesome.

Who else is considered Hair Metal? Name a few bands for this stupid woman.

Well everyone has different opinions on labelling bands (I don't really like labelling too much anyway, its just a good way of describing what a band sounds like really)... but I think the term "Hair Metal" is more broad than just a style of music, to me it refers more to the whole era & scene. So hair metal to me is everything from '80s hard rock bands like Dokken, Whitesnake, Vixen, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Skid Row, Guns N Roses, Kiss & Warrant to sleaze/glam bands like Pretty Boy Floyd, Poison, Faster Pussycat, Tuff & Vain to heavy metal bands like Lizzy Borden, Twisted Sister, WASP, Quiet Riot, etc.

Basically all the metal/hard rock bands from the big hair era!

Well I guess I'm a Hair fan too then, or almost :) Out of the ones you named, I like:

Van Halen,
Guns N Roses,

I have a Whitesnake cd here somewhere that my brother left when he moved out. I'll have to have a listen.

Whitesnake (my stepfather would have played drums with them but he refused to cut his hair shorter so he was kciekd out) and Twisted Sister were too funny

What do you mean kicked out coz he refused to cut his hair shorter? Whitesnake's hair was huge! They've had long hair since they started and it only got bigger & longer as they moved into the hair metal era!

Yeah Twisted Sister are hilarious but lots of fun!

*GASP!* Troops! You came back!!! My bait worked! hahahahahaha!!!!..ahem...anyhoo, i forgot to list my favorites. I'm not a big Hair metal fan, but i do have favorites like:

DOKKEN
Motley Crue
Whitesnake
RATT
old Def Leppard up until "Adrenalize"
Twisted Sister
WASP(but i never REALLY considered them hair metal..)

Yeah WASP were part of the LA hair metal scene in the early days but soon left it in the dust and became a much more serious metal act. However I personally prefer their LA hair metal days - the debut is by far my fave WASP album!

Great list you have there - all fine choices and excellent bands!

What can i say...i always have good taste.

I guess you can hear some of the LA hair metal influences in their debut and the Fuck Like A Beast EP. I think the poppier elements started melting off just a bit with the "Inside The Electric Circus" album, more so with "The Headless Children"(awesome name for an album!", and finally fully shed of any pop elements with "The Crimson Idol". That's how i see it anyway.

My list of favourite bands form that era could go on forever, so here goes haha:

KISS, Motley Crue, Ratt, Bon Jovi, Poison, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Dokken, Warrant, Skid Row, Guns N Roses, Pretty Boy Floyd, Roxx Gang, Vain, Tuff, Hericane Alice, Cinderella, Britny Fox, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Winger, Van Halen, Danger Danger, Firehouse, Lizzy Borden, Slaughter, Roxus, TNT, Treat, Keel, Black N Blue, Spread Eagle, Vixen, Lee Aaron, Twisted Sister, EZO, LA Guns, Nitro, Bulletboys, Cats In Boots, Fastway, Faster Pussycat, London, King Kobra, Slik Toxik, Rhett Forrester, Lynch Mob, Quiet Riot, Erotic Suicide, Vince Neil, Heaven's Edge, Shotgun Messiah, Every Mother's Nightmare, Metal Shop... the list is pretty much neverending hahah! There's not many that I don't like!

But some I've never been able to get into are Great White, Quireboys, White Lion (although I love Vito's guitar playing, just don't like Mike's voice or the songs much), Wrathchild, Enuff Z'Nuff, Bang Tango, Nelson, D.A.D, Push Push, Madam X, and various others.

Yep I agree totally :)

Though the LA sleaze sound did come back in full force on Hellorado in '99 haha! Most people hate that album, I actually love it though! Any album with songs titles like Don't Cry Just Suck, Cocaine Cowboys, Saturday Night Cockfight etc is fine by me haha! Total rock & roll!

Funny thing is, I 'm not too big on hair metal, but i've heard of jst about all of those bands! I love Van Halen and Dangerous Toys. Those are a couple i missed.

Hmmmm...... I like some hair bands or bands that were in that category at one time..

White Lion (huge Vito fan here)
Cinderella - great blues-rock band. Great vox and guitars
Tesla - diverse band with lots of great music.
Slaughter - Mark f'king rips in the studio and live. Can't stand his bass player though....
Motley Crue - Mick Mars doesn't get credit for being a completely original talent.
Scorpions - Outstanding band with great vox, guitar and bass and was chunked into the "hair band" category because they started writing songs that fit the scene during that time.

Bands I did like that didn't hold up over time:

Dokken - George was/is a monster player and I like Don's voice, but they don't so it for me anymore.
Guns and Roses - I loved this band, but Axl's voice gets on my nerves now for some reason.
Quiet Riot - they started me in the "heair age" but they simply didn't hold up over time.

Bands I never cared for:

Warrant
Poison (had a couple of decent songs)
Keel - I would rather eat sulfuric acid than listen to Ron Keel sing. There are very few bands or artists I will really get down on, but he is the exception. He is terrible.

Bryant

How about bald Metal? :loco:
I don't like most glam bands (Poison...), yet I enjoy some bands labelled "hair metal" :
Bonfire
Dokken
Twisted Sister, even "Love is for Suckers" was not that bad
Tesla
Quiet Riot
White Lion
Wasp (hair metal??)
Skid Row
Stryper (? I consider them (melodic) Heavy Metal)
a few Motley songs

Whitesnake and Scorpions are much more associated with the 70's scene to me, and I love them!

AND you cant forget the classik "Dirty Balls"!!!!!

Hahaha yes Dirty Balls!

Fangface: I've never been able to get into Whitesnake's early material much. To me, their peak was certainly "Slip Of The Tongue" and "1987" and I pretty much associate the Whitesnake sound with songs like Now You're Gone, Is This Love, Gimme All Your Love, Here I Go Again, The Deeper The Love, etc! Big hooks and great '80s keyboards with awesome arena rock guitars!
