Has Anthrax become the joke band of metal?? Seriously.

I don't think Anthrax has become a joke but I guess the reunion was a bad career move.

I actually think the Reunion was a decent idea, clear the air between Joey, Dan and possibly Frank , do a one off show or possibly a small tour to give a bit of recognition to the "classic era" of the band and celebrate the 20th anniversary.
What i think a lot of fans have a problem with is the fact that it's been dragged out so long and the vague answers that have been given on the future's of John and Rob in the "Anthrax family".....

*I always seem to blast the reunion on a tuesday :loco:

The reunion was a great idea... Every damn review I have seen was nothing short of great.. All the bitching is done here.. And about the quote.. I love SLAYER but they talk shit about everyone...

They shuld record something soon, but hey I believe there was quite some time between WCFYA and vol 8 too, don't get impatient, how much time does it take AC/DC to release a record these days?

Why does anyone even care what someone not asscociated with the band has to say about the reunion?(other bands) What does Tom Arraya have to do with it? Slayer took 4 years to record an album with their re-united lineup, and they only had to bring back one band member. By this logic Anthrax should be able to take 12 years to record! Now for cryin' out loud...PLEASE STOP THIS BS!

The new AC/DC album should be out by late 06 early 07 as they have lined up a massive word tour in 07. As for Anthrax becoming the joke band of metal, let's just say that Supergroup is airing on the 27 of August here in Canada & was called Heavy Metal Has-beens form Supergroup. Please remember this is what the show was billed as & not my personal opinion. I'm a huge Anthrax fan from POT - WCFYA.

Metal Maniacs: ANTHRAX is doing "Among the Living" on a few dates this summer.

Kerry: "Yeah, I heard about ANTHRAX. METALLICA did 'Master of Puppets'. I'm like, 'C'mon, man, can't you guys get some original fucking ideas?' [Laughs]"

Some of the interview talked about Slayer doing RIB in full live and would they do it again with another album.
The above quote just shows what an ass KK is. Does he really think that Slayer were the first band to do a full album live? Does he really think Anthrax and Metallica copied them? He also bashed WCFYA when it came out. Why don't they do something original instead of the same thing over and over and over....and it's not even good anymore.

Hmmm...
  • Ask if Anthrax is a laughing stock.
  • Exaggerate the extent to which other bands have "dissed this Anthrax lineup." (I'm sure they think Among the Living sucks too.)
  • Ask if Anthrax can't be taken seriously.
But then say you're not bashing!? Good grief.

But let's analyze this. In the past year and a half (approximately) they have played with Megadeth, Judas Priest and Rob Zombie. They have also played at Dynamo and Download. Do other musicians take them seriously? You tell me. And don't forget they played with Nerve Damage.

Hmmm...

Asking if they've become a laughing stock isn't bashing, it's a legit question. If I would've said Anthrax IS a laughing stock, that would be bashing. Understand?? I know, it may be hard for you but ask your Mommy, she'll help ya with it.

There is no exaggeration with the amount of bands and/or musicians who have made negative comments. The RBC site if I remember correctly had a section on there where you could read what othe musicians thought of this reunion. It's not on there now so I will take that back under the fact that I cannot properly prove it.

TONS of bands play Download and Dynamo, that doesn't mean they're taken seriously. As far as being on Gigantour, how many dates did they actually play on that?? I don't recall seeing them on the lineup when they came through Chicago. Priest is also in the "reunion" mode, which is great, and Zombie kinda sucks so I won't touch that, but how much control do bands have in picking their opening act on a major tour??

It once again was just a question. I guess unless you're asking questions that paint Anthrax in a positive light you can't ask anything?? If you want all positive why aren't you on the CDC message board?? Then you won't have to worry about any of this. Good grief Charlie Brown.

The power of suggestion was pretty obvious by the tone of the question and knowing your history. If Billy Milano asked "is Charlie a little pussy?" it would be pretty obvious what he's meaning. Similar thing here.

TONS of bands don't HEADLINE Dynamo.
Yes, tons of bands do play Download, but it was Anthrax's first time there since 1987. Granted, it doesn't prove very much. Perhaps they could have played it with Bush; I don't know.

They only played a handful of show on Gigantour because they were busy on their own tour. You know Dave Mustaine has a large amount of control over who plays at his shows.

Priest also had a hand in picking Anthrax, as did Rob Zombie. I'm not a fan of Zombie either, but I am glad he chose them. It's nice to play in front of arena crowds.

Even if those bands didn't have a hand in picking them, someone did, and it must mean something to someone with a lot of money invested in it to pick Anthrax.

I'm not sure if your last paragraph was directed at me or not, because I never said ANYTHING suggesting you couldn't ask here what you did ask. All I was doing was disagreeing with you, which is apparently not okay by your so-called standards. (Pot calling the kettle back.) Perhaps if you can't take some criticism, you should stick to the RBC board. I don't post that frequently on the CDC board because I don't feel like it. I like this board because I started it four years ago, and it dates back to Anthrax message boards that have been going in one form or another for 11 years. Ron "MOSH" Earl and AlexStomp were on the original Rage Area back then, and I posted a couple times. I'm not going to be chased away from here by some differing opinions.

Disagreeing with me is fine, people do it all the time. What got me was you automatically accused me of "bashing". Which I wasn't at all. I know given that I'm on the RBC board and all that it's easy to assume, but that's why I put in the original post I'm asking as a fan not as a basher. Like I said I have read comments where bands have put this down, and I'm just wondering why it seems like the Anthrax reunion is being picked out by more people than other reunions to be dissed. That's all.

VH1 did a "where are they now?" segment on Anthrax in 2000. It didn't feel nice then either.

I did not know that. Pretty shtty of VH1 to kick a band while they are down & searching for a record lebel. It just doesn't seem right for Scott to try & keep Anthrax alive by doing shows like these that mock artists.

what do slayer know anyway? how to write one song repeatedly for 20 fucking years, play live like its the last thing on earth u want to do and yet still some sort of massive kudos in the metal world? that my friends is a joke. their new album is fucking hilarious, its like its written by 3 year olds..........

anymore of a joke than just playing 20 year old metal songs and touring with shit bands like rob zombie? To me thats a joke. I think that this topic got under some of the peoples skin here.....Even what derrick said, while you may not like him as a singer, infact what he did say is true.

I think it's because they were well respected... never selling out or following the stupid trends. I remember about a year before the reunion thing, Dave Mustane talking about how Anthrax is one of the few true metal bands left that were in it just for the Metal.

Its close to becoming a joke. The nostalgia wave is good for a quick few bucks, but not a good idea in the long run. I love anthrax, but lets face it, it doesn't sell. It's not lame ass pre-packaged radio friendly bullshit.

If you go out on the street way more people know who Kevin Federtrash is than John Bush and Joey Belladonna put together. Its just really sad what the music industry has come to.

no reuinion=no label=no money=no anthrax.
choices: do it or give up
what would you rather have seen happen? yeah it blows but it is what it is.

also....the reunion will continue until the agreed numbers are met and the label gets what they want period. if it means better support for whatever comes next its a price well paid.

VH1 labeled Supergroup as heavy metal Has-beens. Not a very flattering comment.
It's true in the sense that Ted, Baz and Evan aren't exactly full-time musicians anymore. And Scott and Jason play in old established bands.

Kerry king is a pud

I think Araya is being very petty. So Slayer is selling well in Findland, he thinks that's leverage to stare down on other bands?

Thats funny--Derrick Green has something to say about living past glories OR someone elses glories for that matter

No shit. Who would he be without living off the success of previous members?

Wow! I didn't know Slayer sold out that half-empty venue where I saw them 2 months ago.

But Norwegians are buying their CD's! :kickass:

If Slayer did one of their entire albums live (especially the earlier better ones), the show would be over in 30 minutes.
