If all we have to worry about in Episode II is whether or not some sugar-coated boy band will be in it for half a second, then we're lucky!
Phantom Menace promised so much and delivered so little. I enjoyed it at the cinema because it had the look and feel of the old films, but on repeated viewings, the plot, dialogue, characterisation, pacing and acting left a lot to be desired. What made the first trilogy so great was the dynamic between the characters. This was missing, presumed dead, from Episode I, along with all traces of fun and adventure. George is starting to take the whole thing way too seriously, and it shows in his writing. Has he forgotten the charm of those Saturday morning serials (eg Flash Gordon) that originally inspired him?
