Have you ever wanted to kick a n00b?

Loren Littlejohn

Lover of all boobage.
Guy in another forum asks (basically) what he needs to reamp. He has an ulralite.

I say "pro rmp and TRS cable".

Another guy "$30 passive DI
Another guy "DI and reamp device" (I ignored this n00b as he really just didn't bother looking up a pic of the ultralite).

He argues this to the hilt saying it's just as good as the pro rmp (that is not really that good comparitive to other reamps but whatever) no noise awsometastic.

I say "well then all transformers must be the same, I should go out and buy some fucking behringer shit because it should still sound awsome right?"

I feel bad for the OP he is probably confused as hell right now.

Besides this being my first post (I'm new to these forums but not to forms in general), there are many n00bs I wanted to kill with fire. I mostly post in video game forums and fanboys will do that to you.

Everyone is a noob at some point in their life. I'm sure all of you have said "noob" things in the past that you are embarrassed about now.

It's also true that some are more annoying than others though...

I didn't assume to know everything in the post. In fact I don't feel I went out of my experience.

I have tried a $30 DI in reverse and it didn't work (well it did, but it sounded horrible).

I reamp all the time, the process isn't new.

The OP asked why you can't just plug in a cable from the ultralite to amp and I said "because your instrument is outputting around -20db and your device is putting out +4 db there is also an impedance mismatch, that is why a reamp unit is needed you need to match impedance. That is why it's humming and noisey at the moment."

The worst comes when you try to explain really basic things and and some "I-started-yesterday-but-I-know-it-all" just don´t listen or ignore you. Anyway, I work as a teacher and I find myself explaining the same again and again, so, a little patience=longer life.:)
