The only Hair/Glam albums I own are Vinnie Vincent Invasion's S/T; Dokken's "Tooth and Nail", "Under Lock and Key", and "Back for the Attack"; Ratt's "Out of the Cellar" and "Invasion of Your Privacy; Cinderella's "Night Songs"; and LA Guns' S/T. Out of those, I like "Vinnie Vincent Invasion" and "Back for the Attack" the most. I don't care for the Ratt albums too much; the guitar solos are too quiet in the mix IMO. I like loud, soaring guitar solos.

So now that y'all have an idea of what I already have and what I'm looking for, can you please give me some album recommendations? And it also would be really nice if y'all could include a little commentary with each recommendation explaining why you're recommending it. thnx. :)

Also If Ya see Any Babalon A.D. (i cant spell) Pick em up Great band Happy Hunting!!!

Funny you should mention VVI. My wife is Japanese and wasn't around for the US "hair invasion" of the 80's so a couple of days ago I was in K-Mart browsing a discount CD rack near the registers while waiting on the wife, when what looked to be a Slaughter's greatest hits CD caught my eye. I chunked it in the cart.
When we got in the van, I put it on, but it was a live CD. : / I don't care for live Cds normally, but I let it play. Man Mark can get a little too high and kinda sissiefied at times, but to be honest, he kicked mty ass !! He nailed everything. I was going to make a post about it, but I came accross this one first.

That Extreme album is really cool. Its got some of the coolest riffing I've ever heard from a hair band.

I saw Slaughter's "Wild Life" and "Stick It to Ya" used for $3.99, but I didn't have enough left over to get one at the time. But do you guys know which one is the best? I'll pick one up one day this week.

YES you gotta have Motley Crue Every Album No exceptions :loco:
and yes Quiet Riot Metal Health And Condition Critical And If you can find some Check out Lillian Axe pretty good but a bit Mushy at times but Theres some great guitars there

OK,

Since you asked: Skid Row--It's got 18 and Life and Youth Gone Wild. Good stuff. Slave to the Grind is really good but heavier--a little bit less glam.

Any Poison or Motley Crue although I'm not a huge Poison fan.

A much less known band I do like: Dirty Looks and the album: Cool from the wire. The only semi-hit they had was Ruby. They sound AC/DCish. Really liked them though.

How about Def Leppard's Hysteria? High and Dry and Pyromania were also really great, but probably a little bit heavier and a little less glam. All great. After Hysteria things went downhill.

How about Whitesnake? The greatest hits covers all theirs.

Here's a couple more-
The Cult-Sonic Temple
Cinderella-Once Upon A Time(Best Of)
Jackyl-S/t(not Glam, but if you dig AC/DC)
Lynch Mob-Wicked Sensation
Vince Neil-Exposed
Vince Neil-Carved In Stone
KISS-Revenge(probably THE BEST non make up disc)
Van Halen-0U812(The Best Hagar era VH disc)
Van Halen-Best of Vol. One(Covers a lot of ground, good introduction to new fans)
Sammy Hagar-Marching to Mars(Not Glam but AOR, should appeal to fans of melodic hard rock)
Hardline-Double Eclipse(A band a cross between Van Halen & Journey, featuring Neal Schon & Deen Castronovo of Journey)
Saigon Kick-s/t(melodic rock with a lot of Beatles type vocals & choruses)
More to come...

if you can fing some Pick up the first 2 Galactic Cowboys Albums There not Glam by anymeans......There kinda like Kings'X With a white singer And A much much Bigger set of BALLS other than that Listen to Sixxswine He knows his shit

You are speaking my language, my good man! As a guitarist and metal/HAIR METAL fanatic, here are my top ten recommendations and explanations....these things will make you shit a cold purple twinkie if you're not careful!!!!!!! (incidentally, I don't have the RATT discs you mentioned so if you wanna trade on those......)
Here they are in no order of preferance but of the utmost importance:

VAN HALEN - II or Fair Warning. These are often neglected because there weren't a lot of radio hits (maybe Dance the Night Away...) but these are my two favorite albums of all time. THESE would go with me on a desert island. Loud guitar. Prime EVH. Lord, help me!

MOTLEY CRUE - Too Fast For Love or Shout At The Devil. This is when Motley were most loud, rude and aggressive and had the coolest costumes since KISS. Holy shit. Also two of my favorites of all time.

TED NUGENT - ok, not really hair metal but any guitar fan should own AT LEAST Great Gonzos.....or Cat Scratch Fever. If not then you're a communist pinko and probably squat to pee.

POISON - Look What the Cat Dragged In. It doesn't get any more hair metal than this. Talk Dirty To Me!

SCORPIONS - Love at First Sting. ROCK ME LIKE A HURRICANE! One of the best metal intros since Smoke on the Water. EVERYONE has heard and can play this LOUD riff.

KISS - any KISS but if you want cheezy non makeup HAIR METAL KISS then it's gotta be ANIMALIZE or LICK IT UP! This is the era that separated the KISS army from the makeup only. Gotta love them no matter how bad they suck...it's kind of like when your favorite team sucks...you still gott root for them. That's a true fan.

DIO - Holy Diver!!!!!! Great guitars from the evil elf!! Satan's mini-me.

WHITESNAKE - I hated David Coverdale and thought they ripped Zepplin all the time but there were some great riffs on any album.

NITRO - Hard to find and gay as hell but if you want some REALLY loud in your face guitar that you'll never figure out how to play.....

finally.....two words.....
TTTTWWWWWIIISSSSSSSSTTTTTTEDDDDD SSSSSSSSSSSSSIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTERRRRRRRRRR!!!!
TWISTED SISTER - STAY HUNGRY!!! WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT AND I WANNA ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to go jam!
Ted

- I'm in this Columbia House club where I have to buy several CD's to complete my obligations, but I get two free with every one I buy, so it aint that bad. They have Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil", Van Halen's "Fair Warning" & "0U812", and Skid Row's S/T, so I'll prolly go with those as some of them. How is Van Halen's "Diver Down" though? Is it good too?

And how are these albums bellow? These are all albums I could get from Columbia House to work towards finishing out my obligations.

Firehouse - S/T
Warrant - Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich
Kix - Blow My Fuse
Twisted Sister - Under the Blade
Quiet Riot - Metal Health (I know the two hits, but is the rest of the album quality?)
Ratt - Dancin Under Cover (Are the solos louder than on the first two albums?)
David Lee Roth - Eat Em & Smile (Is the rest of the album near as good as Yankee Rose?)
Riot - Sons of Society (Thise is on sale for $3.99. Anyone heard it?)

- About Poison, is their second album good too? Because I saw it used for pretty cheap.

- Also, I found a really cool CD in the used bin the other day. I found Shotgun Messiah's "Second Coming". And when I opened it up, it was signed by three of the band members on the CD and inside the booklet by each of their pictures. It's a great CD too. I found out about them when I saw they were listed as a similar artist to Vinnie Vincent on Allmusic.com. They don't sound very similar imo, but they're still a great band with some great solos.

All of those are very good choices. I think Diver Down is great, and I'd go with the DLR Eat Em And Smile, too, for good measure. In my opinion, Eat Em And Smile shows just how much of the VH sound Dave really brought to the table....the "sound" and feel is very similar to the early VH swagger....Twisted Sister Under the Blade is great and so is the Poison you mentioned....all in all you've got some very great titles there to add to your collection! You really can't go wrong with any of those...but please oh please get SHOUT AT THE DEVIL!!!!!!!!! It is such a great album from start to finish....no filler whatsoever. That's the album that showed me there was another band besides KISS that was ok to like.....I guarantee you'd love it. By the way...how old are you? I'm just curious as you're obviously a metal/underground metal fan...but I think most folks started out liking "hair metal" and then went more extreme into the realms of Slayer, etc....sounds like you're a Slayer fan going backwards...haha I think it's cool either way because I love ALL music even country and bluegrass and it's great to hear someone have an open mind....lots of people wouldn't dare admit to liking POISON and SLAYER in the same breath....
You're a great American.

I would pass on Eat 'Em & Go with "A Little Ain't Enough." Eat 'Em isn't that great of a record even with the calibur of musicians that are featured on there. You Can't lose with That Warrant disc, Under the Blade is THE BEST TS record, Dancin' is "Good", And QR? Well, they are a flash in the pan & I would go with theri Grst Hts, cos' it will cover anything decent they've ever done in one disc & even the other half of the disc is pure filler...
Diver Down? That's a mixed bag for me. It's ALL covers.
And you can lose with the Rhino Best of DLR collection, it covers
all his better stuff & you won't find yourself hitting the skip button on you player....
The Same goes for Unboxed by Sammy Hagar.
Has all the hits from his stuff from the 80's....
You can also track down Widowmaker which features Dee Snider & AL Pitrelli! Killer, Killer band.
Kingdom Come-s/t
Kingdom Come-Loud
I don't know if the Riot disc that you are referring to features Rhett Forrester, but if it does pick it up!
