In my opinion, Eat Em And Smile shows just how much of the VH sound Dave really brought to the table....the "sound" and feel is very similar to the early VH swagger....Twisted Sister Under the Blade is great and so is the Poison you mentioned....all in all you've got some very great titles there to add to your collection! You really can't go wrong with any of those...but please oh please get SHOUT AT THE DEVIL!!!!!!!!! It is such a great album from start to finish....no filler whatsoever. That's the album that showed me there was another band besides KISS that was ok to like.....I guarantee you'd love it. By the way...how old are you? I'm just curious as you're obviously a metal/underground metal fan...but I think most folks started out liking "hair metal" and then went more extreme into the realms of Slayer, etc....sounds like you're a Slayer fan going backwards...haha I think it's cool either way because I love ALL music even country and bluegrass and it's great to hear someone have an open mind....lots of people wouldn't dare admit to liking POISON and SLAYER in the same breath....
You're a great American.
Ted
Thanks! Actually you're right. My metal journey actually began when I started getting into both Gothenburg and Death Metal bands like Dark Tranquillity, Dismember, Suffocation (I hear this is an unusual place to start). Then I heard Iron Maiden, which really turned me on to 80's metal, and I started to discover all sorts of great bands like Metal Church, Helstar, Rage, Dio, Y&T, WASP, and hundreds more. Then I heard Vinnie Vincent's "Back on the Streets", and that's when I began to realize how great Hair Metal is. And now I've begun my quest to discover as many Hair Metal bands as possible.
I'm almost 20 BTW (bout two months away), so I actually had a small taste of what the 80's was like. But I wish so bad that I could go back and relive that decade being older, because I've pretty much developed a love for all things 80's. The whole Vice City soundtrack was great and brought back some memories I didn't know I had.... Anyway though, I'll definitely make "Shout at the Devil" one of my selections.
